The new DynaLock 2280 Series joins our popular 2268 Series as an upscale, low profile 1,200 lb. holding force maglock. The 2280 features a reduced length, low profile seamless housing, milled from a solid aluminum billet. The one-piece housing offers superior resistance to moisture intrusion. An adjustable mounting plate offers staggered mounting screw holes to enhance mounted stability. Ease of wiring and selection of options is facilitated by a replaceable built-in circuit board. Incorporated in the overall design is a new high impact plastic armature housing. The housing includes concealed rare earth disc magnets at each end, when the optional door status feature is ordered.

are included at each end of the armature housings.

DynaLock 2280 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the DynaLock 2280 maglock work on an inswing door, or is it outswing only?
The 2280 is set up for outswing openings, surface mounted to the frame with the armature on the door. DynaLock's 2280 family covers single and double outswing or inswing doors, but the 2280 as configured here is the outswing version. For an inswing application you want the inswing variant of the series rather than this one.
2) What are the DSM, HSM and LED options on the DynaLock 2280, and do I have to pair them?
Three monitoring options build out the eight orderable configurations: Door Status Switch (DSM), High Security Monitor (HSM), and a bi-color LED. Each can be ordered yes or no, but the bi-color LED requires either HSM or a voltage output option to drive it, so do not order the LED as a standalone. When DSM is specified, concealed rare earth disc magnets are included at each end of the armature housing. Adjustable relock time delay, formerly the TD option, is standard on every model, so there is nothing to add for that.
3) Does the 2280 maglock release on power loss for egress?
Yes. An electromagnet only holds while energized, so cutting power drops the door free, which is how maglocks satisfy egress release requirements. Adjustable relock time delay is built into every 2280 and needs no separate option. Peers with the same behavior include the Dormakaba EML310, listed as electrically locked (fail safe).
4) If I am replacing an old Locknetics 390+ maglock, does the DynaLock 2280 drop in?

For a delayed egress opening, the Alarm Controls 1200DE Series is a delayed egress magnetic lock for a single door.
6) The opening is a pair of doors - can I use the DynaLock 2280 or do I need a different model?
The DynaLock 2280 is configured for a single outswing door with dual armatures, at 12-3/4 inch length; the 2280 series also covers a 25-1/2 inch double door length drawing 1166 mA at 12VDC. If you prefer a purpose built double from another line, the Alarm Controls 1200D Series is a double door magnetic lock and the Dorma EML320 is a double door electromagnetic lock rated 1500 lb, fire rated and electrically locked (fail safe).
7) I need a fire rated maglock for a stair door - is the DynaLock 2280 the right pick?
If your submittal requires a fire rating stated on the product, the Dorma EML310 single door and EML320 double door electromagnetic locks are fire rated and electrically locked (fail safe) at 1500 lb. The DynaLock 2280 is specified for commercial, industrial and institutional openings requiring maximum security, and its 2-1/16 inch profile is aimed at opening heights of 7 feet or less to help with code compliance on designated egress doors.
8) Why does the 2280 have dual armatures and does that change the install?
The dual armature arrangement spreads the 1200 lb pull across two contact points on the door, and each armature sits in a high impact plastic housing with foam pads to quiet the strike when the door closes. Install is helped by the adjustable baseplate, which has staggered mounting screw holes so you can shift the lock for alignment without redrilling the frame.
9) What is the difference between the 2280 and the 2280-TJ80 top jamb version?

12) What looks like a substitute for the DynaLock 2280 but will not work on a swinging outswing door?
