1) Does the Emtek 1252 multi point trim include the multi point lock mechanism?
No. The Emtek 1252 is trim only, plates and handles for a swinging patio door. The multi point mortise lock box is a separate purchase, so you need the gearbox and rods already in the door or ordered alongside it.
2) Will the Emtek 1252 trim fit my patio door?
It is built for Door Configuration #2 openings, with a 3-5/8 inch handle-to-cylinder center-to-center spacing and the cylinder hole above the handle. Emtek references BiltBest, G-U, Hurd (Energy Saver) and Andersen doors for this trim. Measure your existing prep: if the center-to-center is not 3-5/8 inches, a different configuration trim is needed.
3) Is the 1252 keyed or does it lock?
Passage function, non-keyed. The levers simply retract the latch, there is no cylinder and no locking from either side. If you need a key on the exterior, choose a keyed multi point trim instead.
4) What do I have to specify when ordering the Emtek 1252 trim?
Three things beyond finish: lever style, handing, and door thickness. Levers are Aurora, Bryce, Cimarron, Cody, Durango, Lariat, Mariposa, Montrose, Teton or Yuma, all Sandcast Bronze. Handing is right or left. Finish choices are Flat Black Bronze, Medium Bronze and Tumbled White Bronze.
5) What door thickness does the Emtek 1252 multi point trim work with?
1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch doors, with an adjustable 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset and a 2-1/8 inch cross bore. Door thickness is an entry you provide on the order so the spindle and screw pack match your door.
6) How big are the plates on the Emtek 1252?
Rectangular plates measuring 1-1/2 by 11 inches. That footprint matters on a narrow patio door stile, so check the flat area of your stile before ordering.
