1) Does the Emtek 1282 multi point trim include the lock body, or just the handles and plates?
Trim only. The Emtek 1282 set gives you the brass plates and handles for a swinging patio door; the multi point mortise lock box is a separate purchase. If the existing lock body in the door is sound you can reuse it, but on a new door you will need to source the multi point mortise lock as well.
2) What is Door Configuration #2 on an Emtek multi point trim?
Emtek splits multi point trim by the arrangement of the lever and cylinder on the plate. The 1282 is Config #2: a non-keyed passage function with the cylinder position above the handle, on a 2 by 10-1/2 inch Concord plate with 3-5/8 inch center-to-center between the lever and the cylinder hole. If your existing plate has the cylinder below the lever, or a different center-to-center, this is the wrong configuration.
3) Will Emtek 1282 trim fit my patio door thickness and bore?
It covers 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch doors, with an adjustable 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset and a 2-1/8 inch cross bore. Those are the standard residential preps, so most swinging patio doors take it without modification. The plate itself measures 2 by 10-1/2 inches, so check your existing plate footprint or the stile width before you commit.
4) What do I have to specify when ordering Emtek 1282 trim?
Three things beyond finish. Handing is required, right hand or left hand. Lever style is required and there are over fifty choices, from the L-Square, T-Bar and R-Bar contemporary bars in Faceted, Hammered, Knurled, Tribeca, Straight Knurled and White Marble, through to traditional patterns like Cortina, Milano, Turino, Coventry, Rope, Rustic and Arts and Crafts. Door thickness is an optional text entry if yours needs to be called out. Any brass lever can be paired with these brass plates.
5) It's called non-keyed passage but has a cylinder hole above the handle. Does it lock?
The 1282 is a passage function, so the trim itself carries no key cylinder. The plate is still prepped with the cylinder opening above the handle so it matches the keyed plates in the same Concord family visually. Buyers typically use passage trim on the inactive or interior leaf of a patio door pair and the keyed version on the leaf that has to lock.
6) My patio door lever droops. Does this Emtek trim fix that?
