1) Does the Emtek 15B1 multi point trim include the multi point lock body, or do I need to order that separately?
Trim only. The 15B1 set gives you the plates, the handles, and the euro profile cylinder. The multi point mortise lock box itself is not included, so if you are replacing a full system you still need the lock body that matches your door. A lever style also has to be picked, since the levers are ordered with the trim rather than supplied by default.
2) How do I know if Door Configuration #5 is the right Emtek multi point trim for my patio door?
Configuration #5 means the euro cylinder hub sits BELOW the handle, with a 3-5/8 inch center-to-center between the handle spindle and the cylinder. Pull your existing plate off, or measure the door edge prep, and check both things: cylinder under the lever, and 3-5/8 inches between the two holes. If your cylinder sits above the lever, or the spacing measures anything else, this is the wrong configuration and you want a different Emtek trim config.
3) Will Emtek 15B1 trim fit a Therma-Tru or Hoppe multi point door?
Those are both on the reference list Emtek gives for this trim, along with Crestline, Hurd, KFV, Kolbe & Kolbe, Lincoln, Loewen, Paddock Lockmaster, Peachtree, Semco, Sierra, Oknoplast, Pacific, Signature, Simpson, Vetter, Willmar, Windsor and Weathershield. The brand is the starting point, not the whole answer: the door still has to be a Config #5 prep, meaning cylinder below the lever at 3-5/8 inch center-to-center. Confirm that spacing on the door before you order.
4) What do I have to specify when ordering Emtek 15B1 multi point trim?
Four things are required on the order and one is optional. Required: lever style (51 choices, from the L-Square, T-Bar and R-Bar modern bars through Athena, Luzern, Milano, Rope, Rustic and others), handing (right or left hand), finish, and the keying option, keyed different or keyed alike. Optional: door thickness, and a key code if you are matching an existing system. Handing is not something to guess on a multi point door, so check the swing before you commit.
5) Is the Emtek 15B1 single cylinder or double cylinder, and what does that mean for the inside of the door?

7) Will an Emtek 15B1 plate cover the marks left by the trim I am taking off?
The plate measures 2 x 10 inches in a flat modern profile. Anything the old escutcheon covered outside that footprint, screw holes, paint shadow, weathering on the door skin, will show. On a wider or longer outgoing plate, plan on touching up the door face or moving to a larger Emtek plate style.
8) Is the Emtek 15B1 multi point trim rated for a commercial entrance?
It is residential hardware, made for swinging patio doors in homes. For a commercial entry taking daily public traffic, look at a Grade 1 or Grade 2 commercial lockset rather than residential patio door trim. On a multi-family building the same logic applies to lobby and common doors; unit patio doors are fair game.
