Emtek 15B2 Multi Point Lock Trim (Door Config #5) - Brass Plates, Modern Style (2" x 10"), Non-Keyed Passage

Trim only. The 15B2 set gives you the plates and handles for a swinging patio door, and the multi point mortise lock box is not part of it. If the existing lock body in the door is being reused, this replaces the visible hardware on it. If the gearbox itself is failing, you need to source that separately before this trim does you any good.

Those are both on the list of door manufacturers this trim is referenced against, along with Crestline, Hoppe, Hurd, KFV, Kolbe & Kolbe, Lincoln, Loewen, Paddock Lockmaster, Peachtree, Semco, Sierra, Oknoplast, Pacific, Signature, Simpson, Vetter, Willmar and Windsor. The deciding detail is the hole pattern, not the door brand: the 15B2 is cut for Door Configuration #5, with 3-5/8 inch center to center between the handle and the euro profile cylinder, and the cylinder sitting below the handle. Measure your existing gearbox faceplate before ordering. If the spacing or the cylinder position on your door does not match, a different door config in the family is the right part.

Non-keyed passage. The 15B2 handles latch and unlatch only, with no key cylinder and no thumbturn locking built into the trim. The plate is still made for Door Config #5, which carries a euro profile cylinder position below the handle, so if the door you are hanging it on has an active keyed multi point gearbox you want the keyed version of this trim instead. Passage makes sense on the inactive leaf of a pair or on a patio door that locks from a separate point.

Yes, and it is not optional on the order. Right hand or left hand has to be picked, because the lever and plate are built to the swing of the door. Stand outside the door: if the hinges are on your right it is right hand. Getting it backwards on a multi point patio door means the lever pitches the wrong way and the trim goes back in the box.

Doors from 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches thick, which covers standard residential swinging patio doors. Backset is adjustable between 2-3/8 and 2-3/4 inches, and the cross bore is 2-1/8 inches, so it drops onto the two common bore layouts without redrilling the face. Door thickness can be entered on the order if yours sits at a specific measurement in that range.

The Modern style plates measure 2 x 10 inches. That is a narrow, tall escutcheon, so it hides a vertical run of old fixing holes but very little side to side. If the previous trim was a wide plate or a rosette set spread further than 2 inches across the stile, expect to see the old holes.

It is residential-duty hardware for swinging patio doors, not a commercial opening. For an apartment unit's own patio door it is a fair fit; for a building entrance, a fire rated opening, or anywhere a Grade 1 device is on the drawing, this is the wrong category of product entirely.

Latch faceplate is offered in round corner or square corner, so match whichever your door is already mortised for. Cut a square corner into a round prep and you are chiseling; drop a round into a square prep and you have gaps at the corners. The multi point lock box itself is a separate purchase from the trim.

Unlacquered Brass, US3NL. The plates and levers are solid brass, and without a lacquer topcoat the surface darkens and takes on a living patina with handling. If you want the brass tone to stay put instead, Satin Brass US4 is the stable choice, and Polished Nickel Lifetime US14 holds its appearance the longest of the seven.

No electronics. The 15B2 is purely mechanical trim, non-keyed passage, with no motor, keypad or reader in it. For a connected patio door you are looking at a different product line, not an option on this one.
