1) Does the Emtek 1611 multi point trim include the multi point lock body, or just the handles and plates?
Trim only. The 1611 set gives you the plates, the handles, and the cylinder; the multi point mortise lock box is not part of it. If the door is new or the existing gearbox is shot, that lock body has to be sourced separately. The lever style is a required choice at order time, and any Sandcast Bronze lever in the range works with these plates.
2) Will the Emtek 1611 trim line up with my existing multi point door prep?
It fits Door Configuration #6 prep with a 3-5/8 inch center-to-center between the handle hub and the cylinder, cylinder hub sitting below the handle. Measure your door: if your existing prep puts the key above the lever, or the hub spacing is anything other than 3-5/8 inches, the 1611 will not drop in. Plate footprint is 1-1/2 x 11 inches, so it also has to cover whatever the old plate covered.
3) Can I key the Emtek 1611 to my existing Schlage or Kwikset house keys?
The cylinder is an American-style cylinder and can be ordered in either the Schlage keyway (the standard option) or the Weiser WR5 keyway. WR5 is the keyway that matches Kwikset and Weiser residential keys. You also pick keyed different or keyed alike at order time, and there is a field to key to a specific code if your locksmith or builder has given you one.
4) Do I have to specify handing when ordering Emtek sandcast bronze multi point trim?
Yes, handing is a required selection: right hand or left hand. Stand outside the door, on the key side. If the hinges are on your right, it is right hand. Get this wrong on a multi point trim and the lever and cylinder land on the wrong faces.
5) Is the Emtek 1611 keyed on both sides, or is there a thumbturn inside?
Single cylinder. There is one key cylinder, on the exterior plate, with the interior side operating without a key. That is the usual choice for a patio door with glass in an area where egress without a key matters. If you need the door keyed from both sides, this is not the trim for it.

The trim now ships with a Spring Assist mechanism that returns the lever to horizontal and stops the drooping handle problem that plagues older multi point trim. That is worth knowing if you are replacing a set that sagged, since the failure was usually in the trim, not the gearbox.
