1) Does the Emtek 1681 multi point trim include the multi point lock body, or do I need to order that separately?
Trim only. The 1681 set includes the plates, handles, and cylinder, but the multi point mortise lock box is not part of it. If your patio door already has a working multi point lock in the stile, this is the dress-up kit for it. If you're building a door from scratch, you need to source the mortise lock body separately as well.
2) What does Door Configuration #6 mean on Emtek multi point trim, and how do I know my door takes it?
Configuration #6 describes where the cylinder and handle hubs sit on the plate relative to each other. On the 1681 the American cylinder hub is below the handle, and the hub spacing is 3-5/8 inch center to center. Measure the existing prep on your door slab: the distance between the handle spindle hole and the cylinder hole. If that measurement is 3-5/8 inches with the key hole underneath the lever, this is the right configuration. If the cylinder sits above the handle or the spacing differs, you need a different Emtek configuration.
3) Will the Emtek 1681 Concord trim fit my Milgard or Pella swinging patio door?
Milgard and Pella are the reference door manufacturers for this trim. It is built for swinging patio doors running a multi point mortise lock, with a 3-5/8 inch hub-to-hub spacing and the key cylinder below the lever. Check your door's existing prep against that spacing before ordering, since both manufacturers have used more than one multi point layout over the years.
4) Can I key this Emtek patio door trim to the same key as my Schlage or Kwikset front door?
Yes, and that is the point of the keyway choice. The cylinder ships in either a Schlage keyway (the standard option) or a Weiser WR5 keyway, so it can be pinned to match the rest of the house. Keyed alike and keyed different are both offered, and there's a field to enter a key code if you're matching an existing system. Weiser WR5 is the keyway Kwikset-family keys run in, so pick that one if your other doors are Kwikset or Weiser.
5) Do I have to specify handing when ordering the Emtek 1681 multi point trim?
Handing is required, right hand or left hand, and it is not field reversible on this trim. Stand outside the door looking at it: if the hinges are on your right, it's a right hand door. Get it wrong and the lever and cylinder land upside down relative to the prep.

7) Is the Emtek 1681 keyed on both sides, or just from outside?
Single cylinder. Key on the exterior, thumbturn or lever operation on the inside, with one American cylinder in the set. If you need a key required from inside as well, this is not the configuration for it.
8) Will this Emtek trim fix the sagging handle on my patio door?
The 1681 trim now ships with a spring assist that returns the lever to neutral, which is the mechanism that stops handles drooping over time. A sagging lever on a multi point patio door is usually the trim's return spring giving out rather than the lock body failing, so replacing the trim with a spring assist set is the normal fix. If the door itself is not pulling the rods and hooks properly, the problem is in the mortise lock body and this trim won't address it.
9) How big are the plates on the Emtek Concord multi point trim, and will they cover my old ones?
The Concord plates measure 2 by 10-1/2 inches, with the hubs 3-5/8 inches apart. That's a fairly narrow plate, so measure the footprint of the trim you're taking off. Anything wider than 2 inches or longer than 10-1/2 will leave witness marks or unfinished stile showing around the new plate.

The plates and levers are solid brass, so if you're matching interior hardware already in the house, these are the same finish codes Emtek uses across its brass collection. Unlacquered brass is the one that will patina over time rather than hold its shade.
11) Is the Emtek 1681 multi point trim rated for commercial use?
It's residential hardware, built for swinging patio doors in homes. For a multi-family or commercial opening seeing high traffic and needing a graded lockset, look at commercial mortise or cylindrical hardware instead. This is a decorative brass trim for a residential patio door.
