It is a non-keyed passage function, so there is no locking from the trim itself. The plate is still cut for a cylinder below the handle for an American style cylinder, which is how the accompanying multi point lock is operated when a keyed version is used. If you want key control at this door, you need the keyed version of the trim instead.
4) Do I have to specify handing when ordering Emtek multi point lock trim?
Yes, handing is a required selection: right hand or left hand. Multi point trim is not reversible in the field, so determine handing at the opening (stand outside the door and note which side the hinges are on) before you place the order.
