Emtek 2412-FB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What finishes does the Emtek 2412 Tuscany doorbell come in?
Two finishes: Flat Black Bronze (FB) and Medium Bronze (MB), ordered as 2412FB and 2412MB. Both are the same lost wax cast bronze #12 rosette doorbell, so pick the one that matches the entry set already on the door.
2) Does the Emtek 2412 doorbell come with the button, or do I have to buy that separately?
The 2412 ships as a complete assembly: plate, #12 rosette, and a lighted push button, plus matching screws. The screws are not sold on their own, so keep them with the part during the install.
3) I have Emtek Tuscany bronze knobs on my front door. Which doorbell rosette matches?
Tuscany lost wax cast bronze doorbells come with four rosette choices: #11 (model 2411), #12 (2412), #14 (2414), and #15 (2415). Match the rosette shape to the rose or escutcheon on your Tuscany entry set, then match the finish, FB or MB.
4) Is the Emtek 2412 button lighted, and does it need power?
The button is a lighted type, so it needs low-voltage power from the doorbell transformer and chime circuit like any illuminated bell button. It is not a self-contained wireless bell.
5) Is this Emtek doorbell meant for a house or for a commercial entrance?
Emtek lists the 2412 as residential. For apartment or commercial entries where the button gets constant traffic and may need to tie into an access control or intercom system, look at a commercial-duty button instead.
6) My door hardware is a modern square style, not bronze. Is there an Emtek doorbell that suits it better?
Yes. Emtek's Contemporary doorbells are the ones to look at: Square Rosette 2459, Disk Rosette 2458, Modern Rectangular 2463, Urban Modern 2465, Modern 2457, and Neos 2460. The 2412 is a cast bronze Tuscany design and will read rustic next to modern trim.
7) What if my doorway trim is too narrow for a round rosette doorbell?
Emtek's STRETTO plates are the narrow option: 2440 uses a 1-1/2 x 5 inch plate and 2441 a 1-1/2 x 11 inch plate. Both are taller and slimmer than the round #12 rosette on the 2412, which helps on a tight brick mould or narrow casing.
8) Can I replace a plastic builder-grade doorbell button with the Emtek 2412?
Usually yes. The existing button is wired with two low-voltage leads; those transfer straight to the lighted button in the 2412. What matters is the opening: the cast #12 rosette needs to cover the old cutout and the plate needs a flat bearing surface, and it mounts with the matching screws supplied.
9) Is the Emtek 2412 doorbell bronze or brass?
The 2412 rosette and plate are lost wax cast bronze, part of Emtek's Tuscany Bronze collection. Emtek's own spec line also lists brass for the assembly, which reflects the button and internal components rather than the cast rosette.
10) Will the flat black and medium bronze finishes on the Emtek 2412 change color outdoors?
Both FB and MB are living finishes over lost wax cast bronze, so they darken and patina with weather and handling. That is normal for cast bronze and is why the doorbell tones in with Tuscany entry hardware over time rather than staying uniform.
