Emtek 2457-US26 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Emtek 2457 doorbell button lighted, and does it come with the plate?
Both. The 2457 ships as a complete trim assembly: the Modern Rosette plate plus a lighted push button, with matching screws in the box. You supply the chime, transformer, and low voltage wiring behind the wall.
2) I want a different rosette shape than the Modern plate. What are the other Emtek Contemporary doorbell part numbers?
Within Emtek's Contemporary group the doorbell is offered as: 2457 Modern Rosette, 2458 Disk Rosette, 2459 Square Rosette, 2460 Neos Rosette, 2463 Modern Rectangular Rosette, and 2465 Urban Modern Rosette. All are the same lighted-button doorbell; only the plate shape changes. Pick the one whose geometry matches the rosettes on your entry hardware.
3) Is the Emtek 2457 a wireless doorbell or does it wire into an existing chime?
It is a wired, electrified push button, catalogued by Emtek as an electronic item, intended to land on the low voltage doorbell circuit feeding your chime and transformer. There is no chime or battery transmitter in the box. On a retrofit it replaces the existing button at the jamb and reuses the two low voltage conductors already there.
4) What finishes does the Emtek 2457 Modern Rosette doorbell come in?
Seven finishes: Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Polished Nickel (US14), Satin Nickel (US15), Flat Black (US19), Polished Chrome (US26), Unlacquered Brass (US3NL), and Satin Brass (US4). If you're matching entry handlesets or knobs already on the house, order the same US code and the plate will read as part of the same set. Unlacquered Brass is a living finish, so it will patina over time rather than staying bright.
5) Do I have to buy the mounting screws separately for the Emtek 2457?
No. Matching screws are included with the 2457, and Emtek does not sell them separately, so don't lose them during rough-in. If a screw walks off on the job you're looking at sourcing a generic fastener that won't match the finish.
6) Is this Emtek doorbell rated for commercial use or is it residential only?
Residential. Emtek catalogs the 2457 as a residential product, so for a multi-family entry, a school, or a healthcare corridor where you need a graded, abuse-rated device, this is not the right specification. It suits single-family entries, condo unit doors, and high-end remodel work where the finish needs to match the rest of the Emtek trim.
7) My house has traditional or rustic trim. Is there an Emtek doorbell that matches better than the Contemporary Modern rosette?
Yes, the same doorbell is built on several other plate families. For traditional work, American Classic runs 2400 Regular, 2402 Oval, 2403 Rectangular, 2408 #8, 2409 Quincy, 2466 Watford, and 2404 Wilshire; American Designer adds 2401 Rope, 2406 Lancaster, and 2407 Ribbon and Reed. For rustic and craftsman entries there is Arts and Crafts 2451 and Hammered 2452, Sandcast Bronze 2421 through 2425, Tuscany lost wax cast bronze 2411, 2412, 2414 and 2415, and Wrought Steel 2431, 2432 and 2433.
8) I need a long vertical doorbell plate to fill an existing tall cutout. Does Emtek make one?
Emtek's STRETTO doorbells are the long-plate option: 2440 uses a 1-1/2 inch by 5 inch plate and 2441 a 1-1/2 inch by 11 inch plate. The 2457 Modern Rosette is a compact round-style rosette, so if you're covering a taller existing opening or matching STRETTO entry trim, go to the 2440 or 2441 instead.
9) What is the Emtek 2457 doorbell plate actually made of?
Brass, both the substrate and the finished material, with the plated finishes applied over it. Brass holds up outdoors better than a plated zinc or steel plate, which matters on an exposed entry with no overhang.
