Emtek 5607 STRETTO Narrow Trim Lockset, 1-1/2" x 5" Non-Keyed, Brass Tubular, Privacy

That is what the 5607 STRETTO is built for. It uses a narrow 1-1/4 inch door prep with 3-3/8 inch center-to-center hole spacing instead of the usual round rosette prep, so it works on doors whose stile or rail is too slim for a standard 2-3/4 inch rose. The trim plate itself measures 1-1/2 x 5 inches. Note the cross bore is still 2-1/8 inches, the same as a conventional bored lock, so an existing 2-1/8 inch bore can be reused; the face prep is what changes.

Both. The latch is adjustable for a 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset, and backset is selected when ordering. 2-3/8 inches is the default and is the common residential backset; specify 2-3/4 inches if your existing bore is set further from the edge. Measure from the door edge to the center of the 2-1/8 inch cross bore to tell which you have.

Handing is required on every order of the 5607, right hand or left hand. It matters for leversets, where the lever has to swing toward the door edge. If you are ordering a knob instead, handing still has to be stated on the order form, so check which way the door swings before you buy: standing on the outside of the door, hinges on your right is right hand.

No key, no cylinder. The 5607 is a privacy (bed/bath) set: it locks from the inside with a thumbturn or push button and has an emergency release on the outside, so it is for bedrooms and bathrooms, not for an entry door or anything you need to key. If you need a keyed opening, this is the wrong function.

It ships as a complete set with the latch and strike plate included. The knob or lever is not a separate purchase, but it is a required selection: you pick the inside trim style when ordering from the full brass knob and lever range, including the Stuttgart and Helios levers, The Ace and Ace Knurled knobs, the Spoke knob, and the L-Square, T-Bar, R-Bar and Conical families in finishes like Tribeca, Hammered, Knurled and White Marble. The latch supplied is a 28 degree latch, and the faceplate is available round corner or square corner to match the existing mortise in the door edge.

Solid brass construction, in seven finishes: Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Polished Nickel Lifetime (US14), Satin Nickel (US15), Flat Black (US19), Polished Chrome (US26), Unlacquered Brass (US3NL) and Satin Brass (US4). If you are matching other openings in a house, US3NL is a living finish that will patina over time while US14 is a lifetime finish that will not, so those two age very differently side by side.

It is a residential lockset. The 5607 STRETTO is a tubular privacy set intended for interior residential doors, so for a commercial corridor, a stairwell, or anything on a life safety opening you want a Grade 1 or Grade 2 cylindrical or mortise lock instead. Property managers commonly use it inside units, on bedroom and bath doors, rather than on unit entry doors.

Partly. The 2-1/8 inch cross bore and the 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset match a standard bored door, so the hole through the door and the latch mortise carry over. What does not carry over is the face: the STRETTO wants a narrow 1-1/4 inch prep with 3-3/8 inch center-to-center spacing, and the 1-1/2 x 5 inch plate is a different footprint than a round rose. On a fresh or unfinished door that is a non-issue. On a painted door that already had a round rose, expect the plate to sit over a different area than the old trim covered.

Purely mechanical. The 5607 STRETTO has no electronics, no battery and no wiring; it is a tubular privacy set operated by the inside turn only. If you are specifying an access-controlled or app-managed opening, look at a different product entirely.
