1) Which HES Folger Adam 310 faceplate do I need for a 3/4 inch throw latchbolt?
The 310-2-3/4 faceplate comes with a 3/4 inch keeper and works on single doors and pairs. If your lockset has a 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch throw latchbolt instead, take the 310-2 with its 1/2 inch keeper. And if the lock has both a 3/4 inch latchbolt and a 1 inch deadbolt, neither of those is right, you need the 310-3-1 with the 1 inch keeper. Match the keeper depth to the throw of the latch that is actually in the door, not to the door size.
2) Does the 310 electric strike work with a mortise lock or only a cylindrical one?
Both. The 310 series takes mortise or cylindrical locksets. What actually decides the part is the latch: it is a latchbolt strike, and the keeper depth has to match the throw (1/2 inch or 5/8 inch, 3/4 inch, or the 3/4 inch latchbolt plus 1 inch deadbolt combination). On the 310-3-1, the deadbolt has to be retracted manually, the strike does not release it.
3) Is the HES Folger Adam 310 strike handed, and does it work on left hand and right hand doors?
Non-handed, so one part covers both swings. On the 310-3-1 the block inside the cavity is adjustable to set it for right hand or left hand applications, so you make that call at install rather than at order. The keeper is also horizontally adjustable to take up door and frame misalignment, which is useful on older frames that have moved.
4) Can I use the Folger Adam 310 strike on a 3 hour fire rated door?
Yes, in fail secure. The 310 series is UL 10C fire rated for 3 hours on both single and double doors, fail secure only, and it is conformant to CAN4-S104 (ULC-S104), NFPA-252 and ASTM-E152. Fail secure is the standard configuration; fail safe is an option, but the fire rating does not carry over to it. On a fire opening, spec fail secure.
5) Is the Folger Adam 310 strong enough for a high abuse opening like a detention or school corridor door?
That is the case it is built for. Static strength is 1,500 lbs, dynamic strength 70 ft-lbs, and the body is stainless steel throughout, which also handles corrosion. It carries ANSI/BHMA A156.31 Grade 1 and is UL 1034 burglary-resistant listed. It is rated for interior commercial use, not outdoor, and it is not windstorm rated, so an exterior weather exposed opening needs a different strike.
6) Will the 310 electric strike work on a door that is under latch preload from a closer or stack pressure?
No. The 310 series is not preload capable, so on an opening where the door sits under pressure from a closer, a vestibule, or a stairwell stack effect, the keeper can bind and the strike will not release cleanly. Fix the closer and the alignment first, or use a strike rated for preload. The 310 does give you a horizontally adjustable keeper for door and frame misalignment, which is a different problem from preload and worth checking at the same time.
7) Can I just buy a replacement faceplate for a Folger Adam 310 strike that is already in the frame?
Yes, the 310 faceplates are sold as installation accessories for the 310 series strike, in the four keeper depths and six finishes. Two things have to line up: the keeper depth must match the latchbolt throw in that door, and the plate has to be a 310 series plate. Faceplates are not cross-brand parts. An RCI 4, 6 or 7 Series strike takes an RCI plate, such as the RCI B4-704 for the 4 and 7 Series or the RCI B6-04 for the 6 Series, not a Folger Adam one.
8) I have a pair of doors with no coordinator and a 3/4 inch throw latchbolt. Which 310 faceplate, and can I use an RCI plate instead?
Order the 310-2-3/4OB, which is the faceplate for a pair of doors without a door coordinator equipped with a lock having a 3/4 inch throw latchbolt and no deadbolt; it comes with the 3/4 inch keeper. Note that the LCBMA latchbolt and locking cam monitor with auxiliary switch is available on the other 310 faceplates but not on the 310-2-3/4OB. The RCI plates are not an alternative for this opening: the B4704-32D and B6-04-32D are made for the RCI 4 and 7 Series and 6 Series strikes respectively.
9) Is an RCI B4704 faceplate a substitute for a Folger Adam 310 faceplate?
No. The RCI B4704-32D is a 1-1/4 inch by 4-7/8 inch round corner faceplate built for the RCI 4 and 7 Series strikes, so it is cut and drilled for that strike body. The Folger Adam 310 faceplates are 310 Series parts, and each one carries the keeper that matches the latch throw at the opening: 310-2 with a 1/2 inch keeper, 310-2-3/4 and 310-2-3/4OB with a 3/4 inch keeper, and 310-3-1 with a 1 inch keeper for a lockset that has both a 3/4 inch throw latchbolt and a 1 inch throw deadbolt. Faceplates follow the strike series they were made for; they do not cross between manufacturers.
10) What voltage and current draw should I size the power supply for on a 310 electric strike?
The 310 runs on 12 or 24 VDC. Draw is .51 amps at 12VDC continuous duty and .25 amps at 24VDC continuous duty. On a run of several openings, 24VDC halves your per strike load, which matters when you are budgeting a shared supply. The strike is UL 294 listed for access control use.
11) What finishes do the Folger Adam 310 faceplates come in, and can I match the rest of my hardware?

The strike itself uses a plug-in connector, so the plug-in versions of the rectifier and buzzer save you splicing in the frame.
13) The RCI faceplates only come in satin stainless. What if I need to match brass hardware on the opening?
The RCI B4704-32D and B6-04-32D are both satin stainless steel plates. The Folger Adam 310 faceplates are offered in 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 629 bright stainless steel and 630 satin stainless steel, across all four faceplate models, so a 310 opening can be matched to brass or bronze trim without changing the strike.
