Houzer BG-3400 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Houzer sinks does the BG-3400 bottom grid actually fit?
The BG-3400 Wirecraft grid is sized for seven Houzer sink models only: EC-3208, ISL-3322, MEC-3220, MGD-3120, MGT-4120, PGT-4322 and STE-2300. It is not a universal grid. If your bowl is not one of those models, the grid will either rock on the bowl radius or sit short of the walls, so match the model number stamped on your sink or its spec sheet before ordering.
2) What size is the Houzer BG-3400 sink grid?
It measures 12 x 15-3/4 x 1 inches. Use those numbers against your bowl's interior floor dimension: you want the grid to drop flat on the bottom with clearance at the walls, not wedge against the bowl radius. The 1 inch height is what lifts dishes off the sink floor so water drains underneath.
3) Will a bottom grid like this keep a stainless sink from scratching?
That is its main job. The BG-3400 sits off the sink floor on protective plastic feet, so pots and cast iron cookware rest on the grid rather than the stainless surface, and the feet keep the grid from sliding around and marking the bowl while you wash. It also deadens the drumming noise you get from dishes hitting a bare stainless bowl, and it cushions glassware.
4) Is the BG-3400 grid safe to use with dish detergent and food waste, and what is it made of?
It is a stainless steel grid, so it stands up to water, food acids and household cleaning chemicals without rusting out the way a coated wire or plastic mat would. For property managers stocking multiple units, that means a grid you can run through normal kitchen use and wipe down rather than replace on a schedule.
5) Does the Houzer BG-3400 grid need any installation or hardware?
No hardware, no tools, no plumbing work. The grid drops into the bowl and rests on its own feet, so it is a same-day item for a turnover or punch list. Nothing is fastened to the sink and it lifts straight out for cleaning or when you need full access to the drain.
6) Can I use the BG-3400 in a bar or prep sink, or is it kitchen only?
It is built for kitchen sink bowls, and the fit list is all Houzer kitchen and island models. Two of the listed sinks, the MGT-4120 and PGT-4322, are larger bowls, so one grid covers a 12 by 15-3/4 inch footprint within them rather than the whole floor. For a small bar sink the 15-3/4 inch length will usually be too long for the bowl.
7) What finish does the BG-3400 come in, and will it match a satin stainless sink?
It ships in satin stainless steel, which is the same brushed look used on standard stainless kitchen bowls, so it blends rather than contrasts. It is a single-finish item, so there is nothing to specify on the order beyond the BG-3400 model number.
