Houzer BG-4500 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Houzer sink does the BG-4500 bottom grid fit?
The BG-4500 Wirecraft bottom grid is cut to fit one sink only: Houzer model NVS-16-2700. It is not a universal grid, so if your basin is any other Houzer model or another brand, this one will either rock on the drain boss or bind against the basin radius. Match the sink model number stamped on the underside or on your original paperwork before ordering.
2) Does a stainless bottom grid actually stop a sink from getting scratched?
That is its main job. The Wirecraft grid sits above the basin floor so pots, cast iron and flatware land on the wire instead of the stainless surface, and it cushions glass and china that would otherwise hit bare metal. It also damps the drumming noise you get washing dishes in a stainless basin.
3) Will the grid slide around in the sink while I'm washing up?
No. The BG-4500 has protective plastic feet that grip the basin and hold the grid in place, which limits movement and the rattle that comes with it. Those feet are also what create the gap between wire and basin floor so water and debris pass underneath to the drain.
4) Is any plumbing work or hardware needed to install the BG-4500?
None. The grid simply sets into the basin on its own feet, with nothing to fasten, drill or plumb. Lift it out for cleaning and put it back. It is a kitchen sink accessory, not a strainer or drain part, so it does not replace your basket strainer or affect the tailpiece.
5) What finish is the Houzer BG-4500 grid, and will it match a satin stainless sink?
It ships in satin stainless steel, which is the same brushed look as a standard satin-finish stainless basin, so it reads as part of the sink rather than an add-on. There is one finish option; no mirror or coated version.
