Houzer BG-4550 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Houzer sink does the BG-4550 bottom grid fit?
The BG-4550 Wirecraft bottom grid is cut to one sink only: the Houzer NVS-16-1717. Houzer bottom grids are sized to a specific bowl footprint, so a grid for another model will either rock on the bowl radius or sit short of the drain. If your sink is a different Houzer model, order the grid called out for that model instead.
2) Will a bottom grid stop a stainless sink from scratching and sounding hollow?
That is the job of the Houzer BG-4550. It sits on plastic feet that keep the stainless wire off the bowl surface, so pots and plates land on the grid rather than the sink, and the feet damp the movement and drumming you get when washing dishes directly in the bowl.
3) What finish does the Houzer BG-4550 come in?
One finish only: satin stainless steel. It is a stainless wire grid, so it reads as a match against a brushed or satin stainless bowl rather than a polished one.
4) Can a sink bottom grid be used in a bathroom or utility sink instead of the kitchen?
The BG-4550 is a kitchen application part, sized to the Houzer NVS-16-1717 bowl. Because the fit is specific to that sink footprint, it is not something you drop into a lav or a laundry basin and expect it to seat on its feet correctly.
5) Will the BG-4550 grid resist food acids and cleaning chemicals in daily commercial use?
It is stainless steel wire, which is why Houzer calls out resistance to water, food, and chemicals. Avoid leaving abrasive cleaners or steel wool residue sitting on it, which is the usual cause of staining on any stainless grid.
