1) What size cabinet do I need for the Houzer CNB-1200 bar sink?
Plan on a 15 inch minimum cabinet. The CNB-1200 measures 12 x 14 x 8 inches overall, so a 15 inch base leaves room for the rim to land on the cabinet sides. If you are working with a 12 inch filler cabinet or a narrow island end, this bowl will not fit.
2) Will a standard garbage disposal fit the Houzer CNB-1200 prep sink?
The drain opening is 3-1/2 inches, which is the standard opening a disposal flange mounts into. The drain sits at the rear of the bowl rather than center, so check your trap and disposal clearance against the back of the cabinet before you set the sink. Bowl depth is 8 inches, which also eats into the space under the counter.
3) Can the Houzer CNB-1200 be undermounted to a laminate or butcher block counter?
It is an undermount sink, which means it needs a countertop that can be finished at the cutout edge and carry the sink from below: stone, quartz, solid surface, or a sealed wood top. Standard laminate has an exposed particleboard edge at the cutout and is not an undermount substrate. Mounting hardware and a template come in the box, so the fabricator has what they need to cut and hang it.
4) Does the Houzer CNB-1200 come with a strainer and bottom grid or do I order those separately?
Both are in the box. The CNB-1200 ships with the 190-9180 basket strainer and the BG-4100 bottom grid, plus mounting hardware and a cutout template. The only things you add on the order are the faucet and the trap.
5) How deep is the bowl on the Houzer CNB-1200 and will a full-size pot fit?
The bowl runs 10 x 12 inches with an 8 inch depth. That is deep for a prep bowl, so a stockpot or a sheet pan on edge clears the rim, but the 10 inch bowl length limits you to smaller footprints. It is a secondary prep or bar bowl, not a substitute for a main wash sink.
6) Is 18 gauge stainless heavy enough for a rental or multi-family kitchen?
The CNB-1200 is 18 gauge T-304 stainless, the heavier of the two gauges commonly used in residential sinks (18 gauge steel is thicker than 20 or 22).
