1) What size cabinet do I need for the Houzer CTR-1700 bar sink?
Plan on a 21 inch minimum cabinet for the CTR-1700. The sink itself measures 17 x 18 x 10 inches overall, so anything narrower than 21 inches won't leave room for the rim to land on the countertop cutout and for the mounting clips underneath.
2) Will a 3-1/2 inch garbage disposal fit the Houzer CTR-1700 bar sink drain?
The drain opening on the CTR-1700 is 3-1/2 inches, which is the standard kitchen sink opening a disposal flange mounts to. It ships with a 3-1/2 inch basket strainer (190-9180), so if you go the disposal route that strainer comes out and the disposal mounting assembly goes in its place. The drain sits at the rear of the bowl, which keeps the trap and disposal body back against the cabinet wall and frees up storage under the front.
3) Can the Houzer Contempo CTR-1700 be installed on a laminate or solid surface countertop?
The CTR-1700 is an undermount sink, so it needs a countertop material that can carry a finished, sealed edge at the cutout: granite, quartz, marble, or solid surface. Standard laminate is not an undermount substrate. Houzer supplies the template and the mounting clips, so the fabricator cuts to the template and the clips pull the bowl up to the underside of the stone.
4) What comes in the box with the Houzer CTR-1700?
Sink, basket strainer (190-9180), bottom grid (BG-4170), mounting clips, cutout template, and installation instructions. What you still have to buy is the tailpiece and P-trap, the faucet, and the silicone or epoxy the fabricator uses to bed the rim.
5) Is the Houzer CTR-1700 a bar sink or a full kitchen sink?
It's a bar and prep sink. The single bowl is 15 x 16 inches with a 10 inch depth, which is deep enough to fill a pitcher or soak a stock pot but too small in footprint to wash full dinnerware loads. Typical use is an island prep station, a wet bar, or a secondary sink beside a main double bowl.
