Houzer M-200-CLOUD – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size cabinet do I need for the Houzer M-200 33 inch double bowl sink?
A 36 inch base cabinet is the minimum for the M-200. The sink itself measures 33 x 22 x 9-1/2 inches overall, so it will not drop into a 33 inch sink base. If your run is built on 33 inch bases, this one is out and you need a smaller granite composite sink.
2) How many faucet holes does the Houzer M-200 granite composite sink come with?
One hole is pre-drilled and four more are pre-scored. Out of the box you can mount a single-hole faucet; if you need a deck-mount spread, a side sprayer, a soap dispenser or an air switch for a disposal, the installer knocks out the pre-scored holes on site. That means you pick the faucet configuration at install, not at order time.
3) Will a standard kitchen basket strainer and garbage disposal fit the Houzer M-200?
The drain openings are 3-1/2 inches, which is the standard US kitchen sink opening, so standard basket strainers and disposal mounting assemblies fit both bowls. Houzer's own matching strainer is the 190-9180.
4) Can the Houzer M-200 be installed as an undermount on a stone countertop?
No. The M-200 is a topmount drop-in, so the rim sits on top of the counter and the sink is supported by the deck and mounting clips. It needs a cutout and a finished counter surface, not the polished underside cutout an undermount requires. If the countertop is already fabricated for an undermount, this is the wrong sink for that opening.
5) Does the Houzer M-200 come with mounting hardware, or do I need to order clips separately?
Mounting hardware is included, along with a cutout template and installation instructions. Nothing extra to buy for the set itself. What is not included is the drain assembly, so plan on a basket strainer (Houzer's is 190-9180) and, if you want them, bottom grids: 629811 for the right bowl and 629812 for the left.
6) I am replacing an old 33 inch drop-in double bowl sink. Will the Houzer M-200 cover the existing cutout?
It depends on the old cutout. The M-200 is a 33 x 22 inch topmount with a rim that laps onto the deck, so it will cover a cutout sized for a typical 33 inch drop-in, and on a laminate counter a slightly undersized opening can be enlarged with the included template. What it will not do is bridge an opening cut for a larger sink, and it needs a 36 inch base cabinet underneath. Measure the existing hole and the cabinet before you order.
7) Is the Houzer M-200 a true 50/50 double bowl, and how big is each bowl?
Both bowls are identical: 14-3/5 x 17-1/8 x 9-1/2 inches, a 50/50 split across two basins. Nine and a half inches of depth in both takes a sheet pan or a stock pot on either side, so you can prep in one and stack dishes in the other without one bowl being the compromise.
8) Where is the drain on the Houzer M-200, and does that leave room for plumbing in the cabinet?
Both bowl drains are at the rear. Rear drains keep the tailpieces and trap toward the back wall of the cabinet, which frees up usable shelf space underneath and is generally the easier layout when you are tying two bowls into one trap or fitting a disposal on one side.
9) What colors does the Houzer M-200 Quartztone sink come in?
Seven matte granite composite colors: Cloud, Linen, Midnite, Mocha, Sand, Taupe and Thunder. The color runs through the material rather than sitting on the surface, and it is UV stable, so a sink under a window will not fade off from the others in a building. For property managers standardizing across units, the same seven are available on every M-200.
10) Is granite composite tough enough for a rental or multi-family kitchen compared to stainless?
Quartztone is 80 percent quartz sand and non-porous, rated to 500 degrees F and resistant to thermal shock, staining, chipping and scratching. Unlike stainless it will not show water spots or the fine scratch pattern that makes a budget-gauge stainless bowl look worn after a couple of tenancies. It cleans with routine dish soap; heavy abrasives and harsh chemistry are not needed and are not how the material is meant to be maintained.
11) Does the Houzer M-200 meet code for a commercial or institutional kitchen spec?
The M-200 is CSA certified and the sink is compliant with ASME 100.19.3-2000 and UPC. That is the plumbing-code paperwork a spec reviewer or inspector will ask for on a residential or light commercial fixture schedule. It is made in Italy.
12) Are there installation instructions available for the Houzer Quartztone granite sinks?
Yes, Houzer publishes a granite sink installation instruction sheet and it is carried with the M-200 along with the printed instructions, mounting clips and cutout template in the carton. For a topmount the sequence is straightforward: cut to the template, run the sealant bead, set the sink, and draw it down with the clips from below.
