1) What drain opening and strainers does the Houzer MGD-3120 double bowl sink take?
Both bowls have a 3-1/2 inch center drain opening, which is the standard kitchen size for a basket strainer or a garbage disposal flange. Two basket strainers (190-9180) ship with the sink, so you only need tailpieces, a continuous waste tee and trap to finish the rough-in. Center drains also keep the waste arm centered under the cabinet rather than off to one side.
2) Does the Houzer MGD-3120 come with mounting clips and a template, or do I buy those separately?
Mounting clips, a cutout template and installation instructions are all in the box, plus the two basket strainers. You supply the silicone and the countertop fabrication. Nothing else is required to set the sink; a bottom grid (BG-3400) is the optional add-on if you want to protect the bowl floors in a heavy-use kitchen.
3) Is the MGD-3120 a true equal double bowl or is one side smaller?
It's a true 50/50 split. The left and right bowls are both 14-1/16 x 18 x 9 inches, so neither side is the small side. That matters if you want to prep in one and stack dishes in the other without one bowl being too shallow or short for a sheet pan. If you want a large main bowl with a small secondary, you need a 60/40 or 70/30 layout instead.
4) Is 18 gauge stainless heavy enough for a rental or multi-family kitchen?
The MGD-3120 is 18 gauge T-304 stainless, which is the heavier of the two common residential gauges (20 gauge is the lighter grade you see in builder-basic sinks). T-304 is the chrome-nickel alloy that resists food and chemical corrosion, and the sink carries a StoneGuard undercoating over a Super Silencer pad to cut dish clatter. That combination holds up in turn-over rental and multi-family work.
