Houzer NOS-4100-1 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Houzer NOS-4100 fit a 27 inch sink base cabinet?
27 inches is the minimum cabinet width for the NOS-4100. The sink measures 23 x 18 x 9 inches overall, so a standard 27 inch base leaves enough room either side of the cutout for the undermount clips and the countertop reveal. Anything narrower than 27 inches and you need a smaller bowl.
2) What is the actual usable bowl size on this 23 inch Houzer undermount sink?
The single bowl is 21 x 16 inches with a 9 inch depth, inside a 23 x 18 inch overall shell. That 9 inch depth and straight deep-drawn wall takes a full-size roasting pan or a stack of dinner plates without water slopping over the front.
3) Does the NOS-4100 take a standard garbage disposal?
Yes. The drain opening is 3-1/2 inches and sits dead center in the bowl, which is the standard size for a residential disposal flange or a basket strainer. Center drain also means the trap arm lands in the middle of the cabinet, so plan the P-trap and disposal clearance from there rather than off one side.
4) Is a faucet hole drilled in this sink, or does the faucet mount in the counter?
Being an undermount, the NOS-4100 has no deck and no faucet holes. The faucet is drilled into the countertop or mounted on the wall behind, which is why it works with single-hole, widespread, and pot-filler setups without being locked to a hole pattern.
5) What comes in the box with the Houzer NOS-4100?
You get the sink, a basket strainer (190-9180), a bottom grid (BG-6400), mounting clips, a cutout template, and installation instructions. What is not included is the trap, supply lines, faucet, and the silicone or epoxy the fabricator uses to set it. A CB-4100 cutting board is sold separately.
6) Single bowl or double bowl for a 27 inch cabinet?
At 27 inches of cabinet you are better off single bowl. Splitting 23 inches of sink into two basins leaves each one too narrow for a sheet pan or a stock pot. The NOS-4100 gives you one 21 x 16 inch bowl at 9 inches deep, which is the reason most remodelers go single in this width and use the bottom grid plus an optional CB-4100 cutting board to create working zones instead.
7) Can the NOS-4100 be undermounted to a laminate or wood top, or only stone?
Undermount sinks like this one are intended for solid surface tops that can hold the clip anchors and give a sealed, finished cutout edge: granite, quartz, marble, or solid surface. The sink ships with mounting clips and a cutout template for the fabricator. Standard laminate is not a suitable undermount substrate, so for a laminate counter choose a topmount bowl instead.
8) Will the tight radius corners on the Nouvelle sink be hard to clean?
The corner radius is 15 mm, which is a tight modern look but not a true zero radius, so a sponge or cloth still reaches into the corner. The walls are deep drawn and straight and the drain lines are scored toward the center outlet so water carries down instead of pooling.
9) How does Houzer quiet this sink down, and does it stop condensation under the bowl?
Two layers do the work: a Super Silencer pad on the underside of the bowl to kill the ring when dishes drop in, and StoneGuard undercoating sprayed over it. The undercoating is the part that also limits sweating on the sink base below. Nothing extra to buy, it ships applied.
10) Will a satin stainless undermount match the rest of my stainless appliances?
The NOS-4100 is finished in lustrous satin stainless with a highlighted rim, which is the same brushed look as standard stainless appliance fronts rather than a mirror polish. One finish only on this model, so every unit you buy for a building matches the last.
