1) Is the Houzer Porcela PCG-3600 real cast iron, or something lighter?
It's a steel core with a twice-fired porcelain enamel surface, not cast iron. That matters on an undermount install: a cast iron sink of this size usually needs blocking or a support cradle carrying the weight, while the Porcela's steel body is light enough to hang on the supplied mounting clips under a stone top. You get the enamel look and the same non-porous, easy-clean surface without the cast iron handling problem.
2) Does the Houzer PCG-3600 come with everything I need to install it, or do I have to order clips separately?
Mounting clips, a cutout template and instructions ship in the box. What is not included is the drain: you supply a basket strainer, and Houzer's matching one is the 190-9180. The bottom grid BG-3650 is also a separate add, worth it on an enamel bowl if pots are going to be set down hard in it.
3) Will a standard garbage disposal fit the Houzer PCG-3600?
The drain opening is 3-1/2 inches, which is the standard US disposal and basket strainer size, so a common disposal mounting assembly bolts straight up to it. The drain sits at the rear of the bowl, which keeps the trap and disposal back against the cabinet wall and leaves usable storage under the front of the base.
4) Can I use the Porcela PCG-3600 with a countertop that isn't granite or quartz?
Undermount only. The PCG-3600 hangs beneath the deck on clips, so it needs a solid surface that can carry a finished, sealed cutout edge, stone, quartz or solid surface. It will not work under a laminate top, and there is no drop-in rim on it, so a laminate kitchen needs a topmount sink instead.
5) What colors does the Houzer Porcela PCG-3600 come in?
Eight gloss enamel colors: White, Biscuit, Black, Slate, Espresso, Navy Blue, Mint and Lemon. For multi-unit work where you are matching kitchens across a building, order by the suffix, PCG-3600-WH for white, -BQ biscuit, -BL black, -SL slate, -ES espresso, -NB navy, -MT mint, -LE lemon. Every color is the same 30-7/8 inch body, so the cutout and template are identical whichever you pick.
6) Is the Houzer PCG-3600 a single bowl or split, and is one bowl right for a rental kitchen?
Single bowl, one basin, no divider. The full 28-3/4 by 15-1/8 inch opening takes an oven rack or a roasting pan that a split bowl won't, which is why single bowl has become the default in new construction. If your tenants wash by hand and want a rinse side, a double bowl is the better call, but for a dishwasher kitchen the single bowl is the more useful basin.
7) Will the 9 inch deep Houzer PCG-3600 leave room for the trap under an ADA or shallow cabinet?
Nine inches of bowl depth plus the rear drain is a lot to swallow in a shallow cavity. Measure from the underside of your countertop down to the floor of the cabinet before committing: you need 9 inches for the bowl, plus the tailpiece and trap below it. Where a disposal is going in as well, that stack is what usually forces a shallower sink. The rear drain does help, it puts the trap at the back wall instead of the middle of the cabinet.
8) Is a porcelain enamel sink going to be loud when the water runs?
There's a sound-absorbing pad on the underside of the PCG-3600, which takes the ring out of a steel-bodied bowl. Combined with the enamel layer over the steel, it runs closer to a cast iron sink than to a bare stainless one for noise.
9) Where do I get the cutout dimensions for the Houzer PCG-3600 countertop template?
A cutting template ships with the sink, and Houzer's undermount installation instructions plus the PCG-3600 spec sheet are both attached to the product record for your fabricator. Send the spec sheet ahead of the template so the stone shop can cut before delivery, working from the 30-7/8 x 17-5/16 x 9 inch body.
