1) Will a standard garbage disposal fit the Houzer PCH-3700 drain?
The drain opening is 3-1/2 inches, which is the standard US kitchen sink size, so standard disposals and standard basket strainers mate to it directly. The drain sits at the rear of the bowl, which is what frees up usable cabinet space in front of the trap for storage.
2) Does the Houzer PCH-3700 come with a template and the clips to mount it?
Yes, a cutout template, mounting hardware and installation instructions ship with the sink. What is not included is the drain assembly: the matching basket strainer is Houzer 190-9180, and if you want to protect the enamel from pots you add the BG-3250 bottom grid. Order those alongside the sink or the plumber will be short parts on install day.
3) Can I undermount the Houzer Porcela under laminate, or does it need stone?
Undermount sinks are clamped to the underside of the counter and rely on a sealed, waterproof cut edge, which means stone, quartz or solid surface. Laminate exposes a particleboard core at the cutout and is not an undermount substrate unless the fabricator supplies a purpose-built laminate undermount system. On a laminate top, specify a drop-in or topmount bowl instead of the PCH-3700.
4) I'm replacing an existing undermount sink. Will the PCH-3700 cover my old cutout?
Work from the numbers rather than assuming. The PCH-3700 is 31-1/4 x 20-11/16 inches overall with a 28-3/4 x 18-5/16 inch bowl opening, so the existing cutout has to fall inside that outer footprint and the counter has to have enough uncut material at the front and back edges to clamp to. If your old cutout is wider than 28-3/4 inches in either direction, the new bowl won't cover it and the stone has to be replaced. Measure the cutout, not the old sink.
5) How deep is the bowl on the Houzer Porcela PCH-3700 and how big is the usable washing area?
Nine inches deep, with a bowl interior of 28-3/4 x 18-5/16 inches. That takes a full-size sheet pan or a stock pot laid on its side. The nine inch depth is the same measurement as the sink's exterior depth, so plan drain and trap height off nine inches under the counter.
6) Is porcelain enamel steel a better choice than cast iron for an undermount kitchen sink?
