1) What size cutout and bowl does the Houzer PTB-2020 bar sink have?
The PTB-2020 Platus is a single bowl fireclay sink with overall dimensions of 19-1/8 x 18-3/8 x 8-1/4 inches and an interior bowl of 16 by 16 inches. That square 16 x 16 bowl is what you are planning your cabinet layout and template around, and the fireclay body is heavy, so the countertop fabricator needs to know the full outside footprint before cutting.
2) Does the Houzer PTB-2020 come with mounting clips or brackets for undermount installation?
No mounting hardware is supplied with the PTB-2020. It is an undermount sink, so the installer has to provide the support system: a plywood or steel cradle, ledger boards, or clips and epoxy anchors sized for a fireclay basin. Houzer does include undermount installation instructions with the sink.
3) Will a standard kitchen basket strainer and garbage disposal fit the PTB-2020?
The drain opening is 3-1/2 inches, which is the standard US kitchen sink size, so a normal basket strainer or a disposal mounting flange drops straight in. The drain sits at the rear of the bowl, which keeps the trap arm toward the back of the cabinet and leaves more usable shelf space underneath.
4) What is the difference between the PTB-2020 sink-only and the -C version?
The suffix tells you what is in the carton. Part numbers ending in -C, such as PTB-2020-WH-C, ship with the 190-9180 basket strainer and the BG-8050 bottom grid. The plain numbers, like PTB-2020-WH, are the sink by itself. If you are pairing the sink with a disposal you may not need the strainer, but the bottom grid is still worth having to keep pots off the fireclay glaze.
5) Is a 20 inch fireclay bar sink deep enough to use as a prep sink?
The PTB-2020 has an 8-1/4 inch overall height with an interior bowl depth of 7 inches, which is deeper than most dedicated bar sinks and handles a stock pot or a sheet pan corner. The square 16 x 16 bowl with a small corner radius gives you more flat bottom area than a bowl with heavily rounded corners, which is what makes it work as a prep or secondary sink rather than just a rinse basin.
6) Does the PTB-2020 have a faucet hole, or do I drill the counter?
Being an undermount sink, the PTB-2020 has no deck and no faucet holes. The faucet, air gap, soap dispenser and any air switch all get drilled in the countertop behind the sink, which is why the same sink works with single hole, widespread or wall mount faucet layouts. Plan the hole spacing off the finished counter, not the sink.
7) Is the Houzer PTB-2020 code approved for a commercial or multi-family project?
The PTB-2020 carries an ICC certification, which is the listing most plan reviewers and inspectors look for on a plumbing fixture submittal. A spec sheet and the undermount installation instructions are both published for the model, so you have the documents to attach to a submittal package. Fireclay is a glazed ceramic body, fired over 20 hours at 2200 degrees F, giving a hard non-porous surface that resists staining and scratching and does not dent or telegraph noise the way a thin stainless bowl can. The trade is weight and rigidity: the PTB-2020 needs a built support cradle under the counter and no mounting hardware comes with it, where a stainless undermount usually ships with clips. For a visible under-counter installation in a matte or gloss color, fireclay is the finish choice; for a back-of-house job where impact tolerance matters more than appearance, stainless is the easier install.
