Houzer PTU-3600-WH – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the Houzer PTU-3600 come with mounting hardware or clips for undermount installation?
No mounting hardware ships with the PTU-3600. It is an undermount sink, and a fireclay bowl of this size rides on a support frame or cleats built into the cabinet under the countertop, with the fabricator setting it to the stone. Budget for the support system and the sealant as a separate line on the job.
2) Will a standard garbage disposal and kitchen drain fit the Houzer PTU-3600?
The drain opening is 3-1/2 inches and sits at the center of the bowl, which is the standard US kitchen size, so a typical disposal flange or a standard basket strainer mates to it. Center drain also means the tailpiece drops straight down the middle of the cabinet rather than off to one side, which is worth checking against where your existing trap arm comes out of the wall.
3) What is the difference between the PTU-3600 sink only and the version with the strainer and grid?
Two ways to buy it. The sink-only versions (PTU-3600-WH, -BL, -GR, -BQ) are the bare bowl. The -C versions (PTU-3600-WH-C, -BL-C, -GR-C, -BQ-C) add the 190-9180 basket strainer and the BG-8600 bottom grid in the box. If you already have a disposal going in on that side, the strainer in the -C kit is redundant, but the grid still protects the fireclay bottom from cookware.
4) Is fireclay the right choice for a rental or high-traffic kitchen, or should I use stainless?
Fireclay is a fired ceramic surface, non-porous, and it resists staining and discoloration in a way stainless does not (no water spotting, no scratch haze). The trade-off is impact: a dropped cast iron pan is a risk that stainless shrugs off, which is why the PTU-3600 kit ships with the BG-8600 bottom grid. For a turnkey rental where tenants are hard on fixtures, stainless is more forgiving. For an owner-occupied or higher-end unit where the sink is visible under stone, fireclay holds its appearance longer.
5) Is the Houzer PTU-3600 code approved for a commercial or multi-family job?
The PTU-3600 carries ICC certification, which is the listing an inspector or a spec writer on an institutional job will be looking for on a plumbing fixture. That covers the sink itself; the faucet and drain assembly carry their own listings.
6) What colors does the Houzer PTU-3600 Platus fireclay sink come in?
Four finishes: Gloss White, Gloss Biscuit, Matte Black, and Matte Gray. Each one is offered both as sink only and as the kit with strainer and grid, so a property manager standardizing across units can hold one finish and still choose whether the accessories come along.
