1) Does the Houzer PTU-2800 come with mounting hardware or clips?
No mounting hardware ships with the PTU-2800. An undermount fireclay bowl this size needs its own support built into the cabinet plus the fabricator's anchoring at the stone, so budget that into the job. What does come in the -C configuration is the basket strainer and the bottom grid; the plain sink-only versions (PTU-2800-WH, -BL, -BQ, -GR) include neither.
2) Will a standard 3-1/2 inch garbage disposal fit the Houzer PTU-2800 drain?
Yes. The drain opening is 3-1/2 inches and sits center of the bowl, which is the standard US opening a disposal flange or a basket strainer mounts to. Center drain also means the tailpiece drops straight down the middle of the cabinet, so it eats more storage space than an offset-drain bowl but keeps the trap arm simple.
3) What is the difference between the PTU-2800 sink-only and the -C version?
The -C suffix is the combo pack. PTU-2800-WH-C, -BL-C, -BQ-C and -GR-C ship with the 190-9180 basket strainer and the BG-8500 bottom grid in the box. Drop the -C and you get the fireclay bowl alone, which is what you want if you're installing a disposal on that drain anyway and only need the grid.
4) Is the PTU-2800 fireclay or an enameled cast iron sink?
Solid fireclay, fired over 20 hours at 2200 degrees F, not enamel over iron. The practical difference for a property manager: there is no steel substrate underneath, so a chip cannot rust through the way it does on a cast iron bowl. The surface is non-porous, which is why it resists staining from coffee, wine and hard water.
5) Where is the faucet hole on the Houzer PTU-2800 fireclay sink?
There isn't one. As an undermount, the PTU-2800 has no deck, so every faucet, sprayer, soap dispenser and air switch gets drilled in the countertop or mounted to the wall. Tell your fabricator the hole layout before the stone is cut, because the bowl itself sets no limit on spread or hole count.
6) Can the PTU-2800 replace a standard 30 inch base cast iron undermount sink?
In most cases yes, provided the existing cabinet is 30 inches or wider and the cutout can be opened to suit a 25-1/2 x 18-1/4 inch bowl. The center 3-1/2 inch drain lines up with the trap arm of a typical cast iron single bowl, so the drain rough-in usually stays put. The 10-1/2 inch exterior depth is the number to check against the disposal and P-trap clearance under the old sink.
7) What colors does the Houzer Platus PTU-2800 come in?
Four: Gloss White, Gloss Biscuit, Gloss Gray and Matte Black. Every one of those is available either as the bare sink or as the combo with strainer and grid. For a multi-unit spec, Gloss White is the safe standardizing choice since it matches the widest range of existing fireclay and cast iron bowls already in service.
8) Is the PTU-2800 a single bowl or a divided sink, and does that suit a rental kitchen?
Single bowl, one basin, square shape with a small radius in the corners. For rental and multi-family turns a single bowl is usually the better call: no divider to trap gunk, the whole 22-15/16 inch length is usable for soaking a roasting pan, and the tight-radius corners wipe out without a brush.
9) Should I use an undermount or a farmhouse apron fireclay sink for a kitchen remodel?
Undermount, like the PTU-2800, keeps the existing cabinet run intact: you set it under the stone and the counter wipes straight into the bowl. An apron front requires cutting the face frame and usually a dedicated sink base, which turns a fixture swap into cabinetry work. If the cabinets are staying, the undermount is the lower-disruption path.
