The Cameo Series C2409 provides a safe, code-compliant, and architecturally clean method of housing a 10 lb ABC fire extinguisher in a shallow wall. The acrylic bubble door projects the extinguisher forward, enabling full 180° visibility of cabinet contents while keeping the box depth to just 3.5 inches — ideal for installations where wall depth is limited. 1) Is the Larsens Cameo C2409 cabinet ADA compliant, and how does it have to be mounted?
ADA compliant, but the mounting height is what makes it so. Mount the cabinet with the leading edge at or below 27 inches from finished floor to satisfy ADA wall projection guidelines. Above that height a projecting cabinet becomes a protruding object. The bubble door is what drives this: it projects forward of the wall, so the 27 inch rule applies where a flush door cabinet might not need it.
2) What is the difference between trimless and 1.5 inch trim on a Larsens Cameo cabinet, and which do I order?
Trim width is a construction sequencing decision, not a looks decision. The Cameo C2409 comes trimless or with 1.5, 2 5/8, 2 3/4, 3 7/8, 4, or 4 5/8 inch trim. Trimless has to go in before the drywall, with plaster stops behind the drywall, and it is not recommended for block wall installation. If the wall is already closed up, or you are cutting into block, take a trimmed version: the trim flange covers the cut edge of the opening. On a retrofit into existing drywall, trim is almost always the right call.
3) Can you see the extinguisher through a Cameo bubble door without opening the cabinet?
That is the reason for the bubble. The vacuum-formed acrylic dome on the Cameo door gives full 180 degree visibility of the cabinet contents, so an inspector or a maintenance tech can verify the extinguisher is present and the gauge is in the green from down the corridor without unlatching anything. 4) Can I get the C2409 with glass instead of the acrylic bubble?
Yes. Standard glazing on the Cameo C2409 is the acrylic bubble, included in the base cabinet, and you can substitute tempered glass or laminated safety glass at extra cost. Acrylic is the usual pick because it will not shard, but tempered or laminated glazing is specified where a scratch resistant surface matters, such as a high traffic school or hospital corridor where acrylic hazes over from cleaning.
