1) What does spigot x hub mean on the Nibco 4860-2 PVC DWV elbow, and how does it connect to my pipe?
The 4860-2 has one spigot end and one hub (socket) end. The spigot end is sized like pipe, so it drops straight into the hub of another DWV fitting without a coupling. The hub end takes pipe or another spigot. Both joints are solvent cemented. That street-style configuration is why the fitting is catalogued as both straight size and fitting/street.
2) Can I use this Nibco PVC DWV elbow on a pressure water line?
No. The 4860-2 is a drain, waste and vent fitting only, not a pressure fitting. It also must never be tested or used with compressed air or other gases. For supply piping, use a pressure-rated system instead.
