1) What do the two ends of the Nibco 707-3-LF elbow connect to?
One end is a solder cup that slips over copper tube and is sweated on; the other is a female NPT thread that takes male pipe thread. That C x F combination is what lets you transition from a soldered copper run into a threaded connection, such as a valve, gauge, or appliance stub, while turning the line 90 degrees.
