The 90-degree elbow features solder cups and mounting ears. The fitting provides a means of changing the pipeline direction 90 degrees. The ears allow the fitting to be secured to a wall support using a nail or screw. Please refer to NIBCO technical data sheets and catalogs for engineering and installation information. In addition to its inherent qualities of beauty, durability and low maintenance, copper's reusability makes it an ideal application in sustainable projects. NIBCO® copper fittings are manufactured in an ISO 9001 certified facility, and backed by a 50-year limited warranty. Because of its longstanding reputation for innovation and precision in design and manufacturing, NIBCO is the preferred brand in the industry.

Nibco B074000 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What makes the Nibco 707-5-A Hy-Set elbow different from a plain 90-degree copper elbow?
The Hy-Set version has cast mounting ears on the body. Those ears let you fasten the fitting to a stud or wall backing with a nail or screw, so the drop stays put while you solder and stays aligned afterward. A plain 90 has no ears and relies entirely on separate bracketing. Both change pipeline direction 90 degrees (1/4 bend), but the Hy-Set is what you want behind a wall at a stub-out for a valve or faucet riser.
2) Is the Nibco 707-5-A elbow solder or threaded on the ends?
Both ends are solder cups, C x C, so copper tube slips into the cup and is soldered or brazed. There is no thread on either end. If you need to land a threaded valve or a male adapter at that point, you will need a separate C x FIP or C x MIP fitting or adapter downstream of this elbow.
3) Can I use the Nibco 707-5-A on a potable water line?
No. Use of this fitting in U.S. drinking water applications is prohibited after January 3, 2014. It is a cast bronze body to ASTM B584 alloy C84400, which does not meet current lead-free potable requirements. For a domestic water stub-out, specify a lead-free Hy-Set drop ear elbow instead. This one remains suitable for non-potable service such as fire protection, hydronic heating, HVAC, industrial and irrigation lines.
4) What pipe sizes does the Nibco 707-5-A Hy-Set elbow come in?
Two sizes: 1/2 inch (MPN B074000) and 3/4 inch (MPN B074150). Both are straight size, meaning the two cups are the same diameter, so it is not a reducing elbow. For a size change you would need a reducing fitting or a reducer ahead of the elbow.
5) What is the Nibco 707-5-A elbow body made of, and does it hold up in aggressive water?
Cast bronze, ASTM B584 alloy C84400, and it is dezincification resistant. That matters on water with high chloride or low pH, where high-zinc brass can leach zinc and fail at the threads or cup wall. Material and workmanship are per ASME B16.18.
6) Will the 707-5-A work for a hydronic heating or fire protection drop?
Yes. Listed system uses include fire protection, heating, HVAC, industrial and irrigation as well as commercial plumbing. The ears let you anchor the elbow to framing so the drop does not move under thermal cycling or when a head or valve is wrenched on downstream.
7) Do I need any extra bracket or clamp with this Hy-Set drop ear elbow?
No separate bracket is required for the elbow itself. The cast ears are the support, fastened directly to wall backing with nails or screws. Fasteners are not supplied, so bring the screws that suit your backing. Solder, flux and the tube are also separate.
