1) What pipe sizes does the Oatey 12803 roof flashing fit?
The Oatey 12803 Aurora No-Calk flashing fits vent pipe from 1-1/2 inch up to 3 inch. The self-sealing collar slides down over the pipe and seals against it, so one part covers the whole range without caulk.
2) What roof pitch can this No-Calk flashing be installed on?
It is rated for pitches from 0 to 40 degrees, so it covers flat decks through roughly a 10:12 slope. Steeper than 40 degrees and you need a different base.
3) Can I use the Oatey 12803 on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. The Aurora No-Calk galvanized flashing is not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. The collar and plastic base won't tolerate that application, and petroleum-based products and paint must not be applied to either the collar or the base. For a built-up roof, specify a flashing rated for that system instead.
4) Is this flashing rated for a gas appliance vent?
The 12803 is rated for 180 degrees F continuous heat and approved for Type B installations, which is the gas-vent category where a Type B double-wall vent passes through the roof. Keep the service within that 180 F continuous rating.
5) What size and gauge is the base on the Oatey 12803?
The base is 24 gauge galvanized steel measuring 9.5 x 12.5 inches. That gives you enough flange to lap under the course above and over the course below on standard shingle work, and it is heavy enough to nail off without oil-canning.
6) Can I paint the Oatey No-Calk flashing to match the roof?
Don't paint it. The instructions prohibit paint and petroleum-based products on the flashing collar and the plastic base, since they attack the seal material. The part ships unfinished galvanized.
7) Do I need sealant or caulk to install this vent pipe flashing?
No caulk is needed at the pipe. The collar is self-sealing and slides over the pipe to make the seal on its own, which is the point of the No-Calk design. You still fasten and weave the 9.5 x 12.5 inch base into the roof covering the normal way.
8) Is the Oatey 12803 galvanized flashing a one-piece unit or do I order the collar separately?
It is a complete flashing: the 24 gauge galvanized steel base with the self-sealing collar already fitted, ordered as a single item under part number 12803. Listed weight is 0.8 lb per piece, so a bundle of them is easy to carry up a ladder.
