OATEY 14025 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What pipe size does the Oatey 14025 Flex Flash roof flashing fit?
The 14025 is the 2-1/2 inch Flex Flash No-Calk roof flashing. The self-sealing collar slides down over a 2-1/2 inch vent pipe and grips it, so there is no caulking at the pipe. For any other vent diameter you need the matching size in the Flex Flash line, not this one.
2) Can I use this flashing on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. The 14025 Flex Flash is specifically not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. The collar and base are plastic and the asphalt application temperatures involved will not work with it. For those roofs use a flashing built for hot-mop application instead.
3) Is the Oatey 14025 flashing approved for a Type B vent?
Yes, it is approved for Type B installations and rated at 180 degrees F continuous heat. That continuous heat rating is the number to check against your vent's listed surface temperature before you commit.
4) Can I paint this roof flashing to match the shingles?
Don't. Oatey states not to use petroleum based products or paint on the flashing collar or the plastic base. Both will attack the material and shorten the life of the seal. The part comes in black, which disappears against most dark shingle colors.
5) What is the Oatey 14025 flashing made of, and how heavy is it for a roof-load?
All plastic construction, black, and it weighs 0.35 pounds. Light enough to carry a stack up a ladder in one hand, which matters on a re-roof where you are setting several vents in a day.
