Orca Hardware Flat Track Kits offer a complete set of track & hardware to hang a single door. Doors, not included, can weigh up to 200 llbs. Maximum opening width for a 6 foot track is 36 inches. Kit comes with all fasteners to complete the job including two types of metal floor guides, adjustable hanger stops, anti-jump blocks, and a connector plate for applications where two sets of tracks are combined for longer runs.

1) How wide an opening will a 6 foot barn door track cover?
The Orca FTST 6 foot flat track kit handles a maximum opening width of 36 inches. The rule is simple: the door has to overlap the opening, and the track has to be roughly twice the door width so the door can slide fully clear. If your opening is wider than 36 inches, step up to the 8 foot or 10 foot track instead.
2) How much door weight will the Orca flat track hardware carry?
Up to 200 lbs per door on the two standard drop hangers supplied with the kit. That covers most solid core interior slabs. The door itself is not included.
3) Will these hangers work on a 1-3/8 inch door, or do I need a 1-3/4 inch slab?
Both work. The FTST standard drop hangers are set up for interior doors 1-3/8 inch or 1-3/4 inch thick, with 1-3/4 inch as the maximum. A thicker slab than that needs different hardware.
4) What comes in the Orca FTST track kit, and what do I still have to buy?
The kit is complete for hanging one door: track, two hangers, spacers, end stops, anti-jump blocks, a connector plate, two types of metal floor guide, all fasteners, and instructions. What it does not include is the door slab and any pull or latch hardware. Soft close/soft open, double door, and bypass setups are separate add-ons.
5) Can I hang two doors on this barn door track?
The FTST kit ships configured for one door. For a two door opening you either order the double door kit or add a second set of hangers, stops and a guide to this one. Bear in mind the 36 inch maximum opening still applies to a 6 foot track, so most biparting jobs want a longer track.
6) Do I need to know the handing before ordering this barn door track?
No. The FTST flat track kit is non-handed, so the same kit slides left or right. You decide which way the door runs at install.
7) What is the connector plate in the Orca FT kit for?
It joins two tracks end to end when one length is not enough for the opening, so you can combine kits for a longer run. It is optional, and it is included only in the FT flat track kits, along with the anti-jump blocks.
8) Does the barn door track mount to the wall or the ceiling?
Sidewall mount. The FTST track fastens to the wall above the opening, so you need solid backing there, a header or blocking, to carry a door of up to 200 lbs.
