1) Will the Orca FTST flat track kit work on a 1-3/8 inch door?
Yes. The FTST kit is built for interior doors at either 1-3/8 inch or 1-3/4 inch thickness, with 1-3/4 inch being the maximum. Anything thicker than 1-3/4 inch is outside what the hangers and spacers are set up for.
2) How much weight can Orca FT Series barn door hardware carry?
200 lbs per door. That covers a typical solid core interior slab, but a heavy solid wood or glass door needs to be weighed before you commit. The kit ships set up for one door as standard.
3) What comes in the Orca FTST track kit, and what do I still have to buy?
The kit includes the track, 2 hangers, spacers, end stops, anti-jump blocks, a connector plate for optional use, door guides, all fasteners, and instructions. So the running gear is complete for one door. What is not in the box is the door itself, the pull or handle, and any wall backing or mounting board you need. Soft close and soft open are separate add-on options.
4) Can I hang two doors on one Orca flat track?
Yes, two ways. Either order a double door kit, or add extra hangers, stops, and a guide to this single door kit. There is also a bypass option if you want the doors to pass each other on separate tracks rather than meet on one. Straight out of the box the FTST kit is configured for one door with 2 hangers.
5) Does barn door track have to mount to the wall or can it go on the header?
The Orca FTST kit is a sidewall mount. The track fastens to the wall above the opening, not to the ceiling or the underside of a header, and spacers in the kit set the standoff so the door clears the casing. Plan on solid backing behind the drywall along the full run of track, because the whole door load is carried by those wall fasteners.
6) Do I need to specify left hand or right hand for the Orca barn door track kit?
No. The FTST flat track kit is non-handed, so the same kit works whether the door slides left or right. You set the direction when you locate the track and end stops on the wall.
7) What is the connector plate in the Orca flat track kit for?
The connector plate lets you splice two lengths of track end to end for a run longer than a single piece, which is how you get to a wider opening or a bypass setup. It is included in the FT kits for optional use, so you can ignore it on a straight single door install. The anti-jump blocks are also exclusive to the flat track kits and keep the hanger wheels from lifting off the track.
8) What finishes does the Orca FT Series 8 foot flat track come in?
