1) How much weight will the Orca FTST Series 5' cabinet flat track hold?
The FTST mini flat track kit carries cabinet sliding doors or panels up to 60 lbs. That is per door, on the two hangers supplied with the kit. It is sized for cabinet fronts, furniture panels, mirrors and light doors, not for a full-size passage barn door.
2) What door thickness does the Orca FTST mini flat track work with?
Maximum door thickness is 1-3/8 inches. The standard drop hangers and spacers in the kit are set up for panels at or under that, which covers typical cabinet doors, mirror panels and light interior slabs. A 1-3/4 inch commercial door is too thick for this hardware.
3) What comes in the Orca FTST 5' single door track kit, and do I need anything else?
The single door kit ships with the 5 foot track, two hangers, spacers, end stops, anti-jump blocks, door guides, all fasteners and instructions. That is a complete run for one door. If you are hanging a second door on the same track, the double door kit adds another two hangers, end stops, anti-jump blocks, door guides and fasteners, but no additional track.
4) Do I have to order the Orca FTST kit left hand or right hand?
No handing to specify. The FTST kit is non-handed, so the same box works whether the door parks left or right, and it can be used in a bypass-style double door layout. You set the direction at install by where you place the end stops.
5) Will the anti-jump blocks and door guides keep a light cabinet panel from swinging at the bottom?
Yes on both counts. Anti-jump blocks keep the hangers from lifting off the flat track if someone shoves the panel, and the included door guides control the bottom edge so a light door does not swing away from the cabinet face. Both are in the kit, along with the fasteners to set them.
6) What finishes does the Orca FTST 5' cabinet flat track come in?
Two: black and satin nickel. Both are on steel track and hardware, so if you are matching cabinet pulls or hinges across a run of units, pick the one closest to the existing trim. The fasteners, stops and anti-jump blocks ship with the kit in the matching kit hardware.
7) Is this mini flat track rated for commercial use, or is it a residential product?
Orca lists the FTST Series as commercial. It is decorative interior mini flat track, so the usual places it lands are hospitality casework, millwork in offices and healthcare, and cabinet or mirror panels in multi-family units, as well as residential furniture.
