Each plate measures 5 x 11 inches. That footprint is what determines whether your previous prep gets hidden, so measure the outer edges of the old holes on the door face: anything falling inside a 5 by 11 inch area centered on the new Simplex 8100 or E-Plex 5086 prep will be covered. Holes outside that area will still show.
4) Will these plates work on a Simplex 8100 with a cylindrical prep instead of a mortise?
No. These are cut for the mortise versions specifically, the Kaba Simplex 8100 and the E-Plex 5086. A cylindrical Simplex uses a different door prep pattern, so the cutouts won't line up. Match the plate to the mortise hardware you're installing.
5) I'm swapping out an old lock for a Simplex mortise unit and the door face is chewed up. Is this the right fix or do I need a new door?
