Yes. The single gang reader uses potted electronics and is rated from -4 to +140 F (-20 to +60 C) at 0 to 95 percent relative humidity non-condensing, which covers exterior mounting in most North American climates. Potting is what makes that possible, the board is sealed rather than sitting open in the housing.
2) What power does the Prodatakey RDRG reader need, and do I need a separate power supply for it?
No separate supply. The RDRG runs on 12V DC fed from the controller board and draws a maximum of 30mA, so it powers off the same run that carries the Wiegand data back to the controller. When you are sizing a panel supply, budget 30mA per reader.
3) Should I use a single gang reader or a mullion reader at my door?
It comes down to what you are mounting to. The single gang RDRG is sized for a wall box beside the opening, which is the normal choice on drywall or block next to a door. A mullion reader is the narrow version made to sit on an aluminum door frame or mullion where there is no wall real estate. Same 125 kHz read and same Wiegand output either way, so the decision is purely the mounting surface.
4) Can I use the Prodatakey RDRG with a non-Prodatakey access control panel?
The reader talks 26 to 37 bit Wiegand, which is the common wiring standard for access control panels, so it interfaces with any panel that accepts a Wiegand reader input at 12V DC. Wired to a third party panel you get the credential read, not the pdk.io management layer.

The standard R Series reader ships reading 125 kHz, 26 bit Wiegand, and the output range spans 26 to 37 bit Wiegand. If your existing card population is a 26 bit standard format, it drops straight in. If your facility uses a longer proprietary format, confirm the bit length falls inside 26 to 37 before you standardize a building on it.
