1) Will the Securitron DM62 work on a pair of doors with no center mullion?
That is exactly what the DM62 is built for. It is a single double-magnet Magnalock assembly that mounts across the head of a pair of doors with no mullion, putting one magnet over each leaf. Each of the two locks holds 1200 lbs, and the pair can be switched together as one output or wired and controlled individually if you want one leaf to stay secure while the other releases.
2) Do I need offset strikes for a Securitron DM62 on aluminum storefront doors?
Often, yes. On aluminum frame doors the strike plate frequently cannot sit flush on the top rail, and Securitron notes a pair of Offset Strikes may be required for proper installation in aluminum frame applications. Order the DM62-OS (no monitoring) or DM62B-OS (with BondSTAT) to get the offset strikes with the lock rather than sourcing them separately.
3) What power supply do I need for a DM62 double maglock, and how much current does it draw?
The DM62 is automatic dual voltage, 12 or 24VDC, with no jumpers or field adjustment. Each lock draws 250mA at 12VDC or 150mA at 24VDC, so size the supply for both: 500mA total at 12V, 300mA total at 24V, plus whatever your access control and rex devices pull. Being a maglock it is fail safe, so it unlocks on power loss and typically needs a supply with battery backup tied to the fire alarm.
4) Which DM62 model do I order if I need to monitor the doors from my access control panel?
Two different monitoring options, and they answer different questions. BondSTAT is a magnetic bond sensor that tells you the armature is actually pulled tight against the magnet, which is what you want if you need proof the opening is genuinely locked. A door position switch only tells you the door is closed. DM62B gives you BondSTAT, DM62D gives you DPS, and DM62BD gives you both on each lock. If you need no monitoring at all, the plain DM62 is the one.
5) Can a Securitron DM62 be used on a fire rated pair of doors?
Yes. The DM62 is fire rated and UL 10C Listed, and it also carries CAN4-S104 and CAN/ULC-S533 listings plus California State Fire Marshal approval. It meets ANSI/BHMA A156.23 Grade 2. Confirm the release scheme for your jurisdiction, since a maglock on an egress door has to drop on fire alarm.
6) Can the DM62 maglock go on an exterior door or a gate exposed to weather?
It can. The electronics are fully sealed, making the unit tamper proof and weatherproof, all ferrous surfaces are plated to MIL specification, and the operating range runs from -40F to +140F (-40C to +60C). Securitron rates it for interior, perimeter and exterior access control.
