Trimco’s KE Series Edge & Finger Guards are manufactured in the USA by master craftsmen from stainless steel, bronze or brass. Flexibility in options on the Edge Guards includes beveled or non-beveled stile, single or double acting doors, mortising, 2 or 3 edge protection and custom cutouts. 1) Is the Trimco KE35-1 edge guard for a beveled or non-beveled door stile?
The KE35-1 is cut for a non-beveled stile at 90 degrees. If your door stile is beveled 1/8 inch, you want the KE36-1 instead, which is the 93 degree mortised version of the same 2-sided guard. Putting a 90 degree guard on a beveled stile leaves it sitting proud of the edge.
2) Will the KE35-1 work on a double acting door?
No. The KE35-1 wraps two sides of the edge for a single acting door. A double acting door swings both ways and needs 3-sided protection: the mortised versions for that are the KE37-1 for a non-beveled stile and the KE38-1 for a radius stile.
3) What does "mortised" mean on a Trimco KE35-1 edge guard, and does it change the install?
Mortised means the guard is made to be let into the door edge so it sits flush rather than surface applied over it. You route or mill the edge to receive it, which keeps the door edge clearance unchanged and gives a cleaner line at the stop. If you don't want to mill the door, the non-mortised equivalent is the KE31-1, same 90 degree 2-sided profile for a non-beveled stile on a single acting door.
4) What finishes does the Trimco KE35-1 come in so I can match the rest of my door hardware?
Four finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, and 630 satin stainless steel. Each is offered in all three length ranges. For a building already standardized on 630 satin stainless lever trim and push plates, the 630 guard matches; 613 is the choice against oil rubbed bronze hospitality hardware.
5) Is the Trimco KE35-1 edge guard heavy duty enough for a hospital or school corridor door?
