1) Will the Trine 004 electric strike work in a wood door jamb?
Wood jambs are exactly what the 004 is built for. Trine lists it for new or replacement installations in wood jambs, with a 6-1/4 x 1-3/8 inch face plate and a mortise backset of 2-3/4 inches. The cavity behind the keeper runs 1/2 inch deep, 9/16 inch wide and 1-1/2 inches high, so you need that much room in the jamb once the mortise is cut. If your opening is an aluminum jamb instead, this is the wrong body; the Adams Rite 7100 and 7160 strikes are the ones prepped for aluminum jambs.
2) What latchbolt throw can the Trine 004 strike handle?
Up to 5/8 inch throw, based on a 1/8 inch door gap. Measure the latch on your existing lockset before you order: a 3/4 inch throw latch will not seat in the 004 keeper. For heavier throws, the HES Folger Adam 310-1(X) strike body is built for 1/2, 5/8 or 3/4 inch throw latchbolts.
3) Does the Trine 004 electric strike release a deadbolt?
No. Deadbolts cannot be released electrically through the 004. The strike is made to be used with locksets that have an individual deadbolt, and the face plate carries deadbolt knockouts top and bottom measuring 1-11/16 x 9/16 inches so the bolt has somewhere to go. The deadbolt still has to be retracted by key or thumbturn. If your access control needs to release everything on the door electrically, this is not the strike for that opening.
4) Is the Trine 004 fail-safe or fail-secure, and what happens in a power outage?
Fail-secure is the standard action, meaning the strike unlocks when power is applied. Drop the power and the door stays locked from the outside; you always get out from the inside because the lever or knob retracts the latch mechanically. If you need the opposite behavior, where a power loss releases the door, Trine offers an RS fail-safe option on DC only, ordered by adding RS to the model number.
5) What voltage do I order the Trine 004 strike in, and which ones buzz?

7) Can the Trine 004 be used on an exterior gate?
No - the Trine 004 is not outdoor rated. For a gate or other exterior opening, the Camden CX-ED1959 Series is an outdoor rated electric gate strike. Keep in mind the CX-ED1959 is not fire rated either, so it suits a gate or exterior application rather than a labeled interior opening.
8) What is the difference between the Trine 004 electric strike and the Adams Rite 7170?
Both are strikes intended for wood jambs, but they mount very differently. The Trine 004 uses a 6-1/4 inch x 1-3/8 inch face plate with a 2-3/4 inch mortise backset and a cavity 1/2 inch deep, 9/16 inch wide and 1-1/2 inch high, and it carries deadbolt knockouts top and bottom at 1-11/16 inch x 9/16 inch so it can sit at an opening where the lockset has a separate deadbolt. The Adams Rite 7170 is built for hollow metal and wood jambs and uses a 1-1/4 inch x 4-7/8 inch faceplate, which is the shorter ANSI-width plate. If the jamb is already cut for the long 6-1/4 inch plate, the 004 drops into that prep; if the existing prep is the 4-7/8 inch pocket, the 7170 is the one that matches it.
9) I need a strike that can be switched to fail safe in the field. What do I use instead of the Trine 004?
