1) Can the WAC Edgey WS-W17310 wall light mount on a standard pancake junction box?
Yes. The Edgey 10 inch outdoor wall light uses AC LED technology, so there is no remote driver or transformer to find room for, and it sits on a pancake junction box. The backplate measures 4.75 by 4.75 inches, so the box and any old mounting scar need to fall inside that footprint. It is a hardwired 120V fixture, not plug-in.
2) Is the Edgey WS-W17310 rated for an exposed exterior wall that gets rain?
It carries a Wet location rating and an IP65 rating, along with ETL and cETL listings, so direct rain exposure on an open facade, balcony or entry wall is within its rating. The same fixture is listed for indoor use too, so you can run it in a covered breezeway or stairwell and keep one part number across the property.
3) Can I change the color temperature on the WAC Edgey after it is installed?
There is a CCT selector switch inside the canopy that you reach during installation, so the color temperature is set in the field before the fixture is buttoned up to the wall. From the factory it ships preset to 3000K for consistency across a run. Once the fixture is mounted the switch is no longer accessible, so set it on the ladder, not after.
4) What dimmer works with the WAC Edgey WS-W17310?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer. Because this is an AC LED fixture with no separate driver, those are the two control types it is built for, and dimming is smooth and continuous rather than stepped. Standard incandescent-only or 0-10V controls are not the right match here.
5) Can the Edgey wall light be mounted horizontally, or does it have to run vertically?
It is designed to mount vertically on the wall, throwing light up and down from the top and bottom of the housing. The body is 10 inches high, 4.75 inches wide and projects 2.75 inches from the wall, so check that 10 inch vertical run against pilasters, column faces and the space between a door frame and a corner before you lay out the openings.
