1) Does the WAC ME-007 monopoint need a separate low voltage transformer or remote driver?
No remote transformer is needed. The 007 monopoint spot has an electronic transformer built into the 4.5 inch canopy and wires straight to a 120V supply, so you only need a standard junction box and line voltage feed at the mounting point. It is a hardwired fixture, not plug-in.
2) Can the 007 monopoint spot light be mounted on a wall, or is it ceiling only?
Either. The 007 monopoint mounts to walls or ceilings and works in any orientation, so you can run it down a soffit, across a gallery wall, or off a flat ceiling with the same part. The canopy covers a 4.5 inch footprint and the head projects to 6.5 inches overall.
3) What lamp does the WAC 007 monopoint take, and can I use a halogen MR16 in it?
It takes one 12V MR16 with a GU5.3 bi-pin base, either LED or halogen, up to 50W maximum. That means you can relamp with standard MR16 stock rather than a proprietary module. The socket is ceramic bi-pin, and a tempered clear glass lens is supplied.
4) Will this WAC monopoint dim, and what kind of dimmer do I need?
It dims on ELV (electronic low voltage) or TRIAC dimmers, smooth and continuous down to 10 percent. Do not put it on a standard magnetic low voltage dimmer. One thing to watch on retrofits: the integral transformer has a 1 watt minimum load, which is what lets a low wattage LED MR16 dim without dropping out.
5) Can I install the 007 monopoint in a covered porch or a bathroom?
Yes for damp locations. The 007 monopoint is UL and cUL Listed for damp locations, which covers covered exterior areas like porches, soffits and breezeways, and interior damp spaces such as bathrooms. It is not rated for wet locations with direct rain exposure.
6) Does this WAC spot light meet California Title 24 for a residential or retail job?
Yes. The 007 monopoint is CEC listed and Title 24 compliant, so it can be specified on California projects where that is a condition of permit. It is not Energy Star rated and it is not ADA compliant, so keep it off protruding wall locations in accessible routes.
7) How do I light artwork on a high ceiling with a monopoint spot?
The 007 fixture family is offered with 6, 12, 18, 24, 36 and 48 inch extensions, so you drop the head away from a tall or coffered ceiling to get the aiming angle you need on the art. Beam angle is 35 degrees, and WAC also sells spread lenses and UV filter lenses that swap in for the supplied clear lens when you need to stretch the beam on a wide canvas or cut UV on sensitive work.
8) Is a monopoint spot or a track head the better choice for a single accent location?
A monopoint like the 007 is the right call when you need exactly one accent point and do not want a track run. It has its own canopy and integral transformer, so it feeds from a single junction box. Go to track instead when you want several heads on one circuit or expect to reposition them later. WAC's monopoint canopies can be fitted with their low voltage track heads, so the aesthetic stays consistent if you mix both on a job.
9) What finishes does the WAC ME-007LED monopoint come in to match existing fixtures?
Three finishes: Black (ME-007LED-BK), Brushed Nickel (ME-007LED-BN) and White (ME-007LED-WT). The White works well against a painted gypsum ceiling where you want the canopy to disappear, and Black is the usual choice for gallery and retail ceilings. Body is die cast aluminum in all three.
10) What light output and color temperature should I expect from the 8W LED version of the 007 monopoint?
450 delivered lumens at 3000K with a CRI of 85, drawing 8W, on a 50,000 hour rated life. The 85 CRI and warm 3000K is why this gets used over merchandise and artwork rather than a generic 80 CRI downlight. Input is 120 VAC, 50/60Hz.
