Function meets durability with the WAC Landscape Lighting LED accent light, available in 12V or 120V in a wide range of color temperature options. A simple twist of the fixture at indexed intervals (15, 30, 45, 60 degree indexes) allows continuous beam angle adjustment from flood to spot while a mechanical dial at the base provides smooth integral brightness control. One sku fits most applications, eliminating the need to choose from dozens of light bulbs with varying beam angles and light outputs when compared with traditional landscape accent lights. 1) Does the WAC 5012 accent light need a low voltage transformer?
No. The 5012 is the 120V line voltage version of the WAC Landscape accent light, so it wires directly to a 120V branch circuit with no transformer. Input is 110-120V AC, and it is a hardwired fixture. Only the 12V version of this accent light needs a magnetic or electronic power supply.
2) Is a ground stake included with the 120V WAC accent light?
No, and this is the part people miss on the order. The 9 inch mounting spike ships with the 12V version only. The 120V 5012 requires the M6000-STAKE power stake, sold separately. What does come in the box: the complete fixture with replaceable LED, a detachable shroud, 36 inches of lead wire, and two Ideal gel filled direct burial wire nuts.
3) Can one WAC 5012 do both spot and flood, or do I have to order different beam angles?
One fixture covers both. Twisting the head at indexed 15, 30, 45 and 60 degree stops adjusts the beam continuously from flood to spot, and a mechanical dial at the base sets brightness. Output tracks with it: 3.5 to 14.5W and 100 to 900 lumens on the adjustment range. That means you can buy a single SKU for uplighting a tree canopy and a wall wash and tune each one on site instead of stocking multiple beam spreads.
4) Will the WAC 5012 hold up in a coastal or oceanfront installation?
Specify the Bronzed Brass finish (5012-30BBR) for salt air. The body material is brass, and the solid brass with bronze coating is the finish WAC recommends for coastal and marine environments because of corrosion resistance. The Black (5012-30BK) and Bronze (5012-30BZ) options are the k-alloy aluminum casting, which is built for harsh conditions but is not the coastal recommendation.
5) What dimmer works with the WAC 5012 accent light?
Use a magnetic low voltage (MLV) dimmer. The 5012 dims smoothly and continuously on MLV control; it is not a TRIAC or ELV device. Pairing it with the wrong dimmer type is the usual cause of flicker or drop-out complaints on 120V landscape LEDs, so confirm the dimmer is MLV rated before you commission the zone.
6) Is the WAC 5012 rated for direct burial and sprinkler spray?
It is factory sealed and water tight to IP66, listed for Wet locations, and UL and cUL 1598 rated. IP66 covers high pressure water jets, so irrigation overspray and pressure washing around hardscape are not an issue. The two gel filled direct burial wire nuts included handle the splice at the fixture.
7) How long is the lead wire on the 5012, and will it reach my junction box?
The fixture ships with 36 inches (3 feet) of lead wire. That is enough to reach a splice point at grade next to the fixture, not a remote box, so plan the 120V feed to terminate within about a yard of each location and make the connection with the supplied direct burial nuts.
8) Does the 5012 come in color temperatures other than 3000K?
All three orderable configurations are 3000K warm white: Bronzed Brass, Black and Bronze. Rated output is 1040 lumens with a CRI of 85, and the integrated LED is rated for 50,000 hours. If you are matching existing WAC landscape fixtures on a property, 3000K is the only CCT on the 5012 as configured, so a different color temperature means a different fixture family.
9) Does the LED in the WAC 5012 have to be replaced as a whole fixture when it fails?
No. It is an integrated LED, one source, bulb included, but WAC lists the LED as replaceable, so the emitter can be serviced rather than scrapping the housing. That matters on a multi-family or campus site where you are maintaining dozens of heads over a 50,000 hour life.
10) Does the WAC 5012 meet California Title 24 for outdoor lighting?
Yes, the 5012 accent light is listed as Title 24 compliant, and it is also ADA compliant. It is not Energy Star qualified. For a California spec package, the Title 24 compliance plus the UL and cUL 1598 wet location listing are the two lines a plan checker will look for.

12) How do I control glare from a 5012 aimed up at a facade?
A detachable shroud comes with the fixture, and it is the first thing to use for cutoff when the head is aimed toward a window or walkway. Beyond that, WAC offers additional glare control and mounting accessories separately, so tighter shielding or a different mount is an add-on rather than a different fixture. Note the 5012 is not reversible mounting, so aiming is done by the head's indexed twist and the stake position.
