The Balance outdoor sconce is shallow at only 2in deep and less than 6in width, like an open box. Sourcing upward or downward illumination, it projects light onto its own textured matte white, matte black, or a warm brushed aluminum finish. This fixture has 3 selectable color temperatures to compliment a building exterior. Functional style with Balance, hang out with light. Energy efficient integrated LED's provide a long-lasting maintenance-free bright and even illumination. NEW: Tri-CCT technology features a switch inside the canopy that is accessible during installation and allows you to toggle color temperatures between 3000K Warm White - 3500 White - or 4000K Cool White to find and set the perfect color temperature for your space. This fixture is factory pre-set to a default setting of your choosing (30 in part number for 3000K, 35 in part number for 3500K, etc.) and can be easily modified in the field during installation by the flip of a switch.

1) Can the WAC Balance WS-W25106 wall sconce be mounted on an existing pancake junction box?
Yes. The 6 inch Balance sconce runs on 120V AC LED technology with no separate driver or transformer, so it mounts to a pancake junction box. The backplate is 6 inches, which covers a standard pancake box footprint. 277V and 240V versions exist by special order.
2) Is the WAC Balance 6 inch sconce rated for an exposed exterior wall that gets rain?
It is rated for wet locations and carries an IP65 rating, so direct rain exposure is fine. It is listed for indoor or outdoor use and is ETL and cETL certified, which covers both an open patio wall and an interior hallway on the same order.
3) Do I have to pick the color temperature when I order, or can I change it on site?
Both. Each Balance sconce ships pre-set to the CCT in the part number (30 for 3000K, 35 for 3500K, 40 for 4000K), and a switch inside the canopy lets an installer toggle between 3000K, 3500K and 4000K during installation. So a mixed-CCT delivery can still be standardized in the field.
4) Will the WAC Balance sconce dim on the dimmers already in my building?
It dims smoothly on an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer. It is an 11W integrated LED at 120V, so standard incandescent-only or magnetic low voltage dimmers are not the right control; swap to an ELV or TRIAC device if that is what is in the wall box.
5) Does the WAC Balance sconce meet ADA and California Title 24 for a commercial corridor or exterior?
ADA compliant, Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, and it is Dark Sky rated for exterior installs with night-sky restrictions. It is not Energy Star listed, so if a rebate program requires Energy Star specifically, this is not the fixture for that line item.
6) Is the ADA projection shallow enough to use in a walkway or corridor?
The Balance body is only about 2 inches deep and under 6 inches wide, with a 6 by 6 inch backplate profile, and it is listed ADA compliant. That shallow projection is why it works beside a door or along a path of travel where a deeper lantern would be a protruding-object problem.
7) How much light does the 6 inch Balance put out, and is it enough for a building entry?
352 lumens from an 11W integrated LED, with a flood beam spread through a frosted glass diffuser lens. That is accent and ambient-level output, up and down the wall, not a primary entry floodlight. For a path or doorway you are lighting by repetition, spacing several along the facade, rather than relying on one fixture.
8) Does this fixture throw light up, down, or both?
Both. The Balance box is open top and bottom, so it washes the wall upward and downward and bounces light off its own textured finish. Mounting method is wall-mount, up/down.
9) Do I need to order lamps for the WAC Balance sconce, and what happens when the LED dies?
No lamps to buy. The LED is integrated and included, one light source, rated for an average 54,000 hours. There is no socket or replaceable bulb, so at end of life the fixture is replaced rather than relamped. Worth knowing before you standardize a hundred openings on it.
10) What finishes does the 6 inch Balance come in, and will they hold up outdoors?
Three finishes: textured matte white, matte black, and brushed aluminum. The housing is aluminum, so it suits exterior use, and each finish is available in all three CCT presets, for example WS-W25106-30-BK in black at 3000K or WS-W25106-40-AL in brushed aluminum at 4000K. Since the fixture lights its own interior surface, finish choice changes the character of the light, not just the look of the box.
11) Is the WAC Balance hardwired or does it plug in?
Hardwired only, 120V. There is no cord or plug, so a licensed electrician and a supplied junction box are required. Field wiring is direct line voltage with no transformer in the run.
