WAC Lighting WAC-PD-52307 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can this WAC Niveous pendant be installed on a sloped or cathedral ceiling?
Yes. The Niveous 7 inch pendant has an integral swivel at the canopy for sloped ceilings, so no separate slope adapter is needed. It is a rod-hung, ceiling-mounted fixture with a 4.88 inch round backplate, which covers a standard round ceiling box.
2) Will the WAC PD-52307 pendant work on 277V in a commercial building?
It will. The driver is universal input, 120V, 240V or 277V, so the same part number works on a residential 120V circuit or a 277V commercial lighting circuit. It is hardwired, not plug-in, so it needs a junction box and a licensed connection.
3) What dimmer do I need for the Niveous LED pendant, and will it work on a standard incandescent dimmer?
Not on a standard incandescent (leading edge) dimmer. The integrated LED driver dims on electronic low voltage (ELV) or 0-10V controls only. Pair it with a matching ELV dimmer on a 120V residential job, or run 0-10V control wiring if the fixture is on a commercial dimming system. Wrong dimmer type is the usual cause of flicker or drop-out on these.
4) Can the WAC Niveous 7 inch pendant go over a bathtub, in a shower, or on a covered porch?
It is damp location rated, so a covered porch, a covered entry, or a bathroom ceiling outside the shower or tub enclosure is fine. It also carries an IP44 rating along with ETL and cETL listings. It is not a wet location fixture, so keep it out of direct spray and off uncovered exteriors.
5) Is there a replaceable bulb in the WAC Niveous PD-52307, or is the LED integrated?
The LED is integrated, one light source, with no socket and no lamp to replace. It is rated for an average 70,000 hours, which is why WAC describes it as maintenance free. For a maintenance crew that means no relamping cycle, but a failed unit is a fixture swap rather than a bulb swap.
6) What color temperatures and finishes does the Niveous PD-52307 pendant come in?
Three color temperatures, 2700K, 3000K and 3500K, each in Aged Brass, Brushed Nickel or White. All nine combinations exist, for example PD-52307-27-AB for 2700K Aged Brass and PD-52307-35-WT for 3500K White. The 3000K versions drop the temperature code, so 3000K Brushed Nickel is PD-52307-BN. Custom CCT is available by special order if a spec calls for something else.
7) Does the WAC Niveous pendant meet California Title 24 for a kitchen or multifamily project?
Yes, it is listed as both Title 20 and Title 24 compliant, which is what a California permit set will want for residential and multifamily lighting. Note it is not Energy Star rated and it is not ADA compliant, though ADA is a wall-fixture projection concern and does not apply to a ceiling hung pendant in most reviews.
8) What is the globe made of on the WAC Niveous pendant, and will the LEDs show through as hot spots?
The shade is mouth blown etched triplex glass over an aluminum body. WAC runs multiple mid powered LEDs rather than a single chip specifically so the globe lights evenly instead of showing a bright spot, and the etched finish diffuses what is left. Being mouth blown, expect slight variation between globes, which is normal for the material and not a defect.
