1) Can the WAC Endurance WL-5205 brick light be retrofitted into an existing brick light opening?
Yes. The Endurance Louvered LED Brick Light drops into a new install, and instructions for retrofitting into an existing brick light come in the box. The body is 9.5 inches high, 4.5 inches wide, with a 4 inch length, so measure the existing pocket against those numbers before you cut anything.
2) Does the WL-5205 brick light need a separate LED driver or transformer?
No. It runs on 120V line voltage and wires direct, no driver and no low voltage transformer in the run. It is a hardwired fixture, so it needs a branch circuit brought to the box, not a plug.
3) Can a WAC Endurance brick light be installed outdoors in a wall exposed to rain and sprinklers?
Yes, it is wet location rated and carries an IP66 rating, along with UL and cUL 1838 listings. Die cast aluminum housing with a clear glass diffuser. IP66 covers powerful water jets, so irrigation spray and driving rain against a riser or brick wall are within what it is rated for.
4) Will the WL-5205 dim, and what kind of dimmer do I need?
It dims smooth and continuous down to 10 percent, but only on an ELV (electronic low voltage) dimmer. TRIAC is also listed as supported. Do not put it on a standard incandescent leading edge dimmer and expect the bottom end to behave.
5) How much light does a 5.5W louvered brick light actually put out, and is it enough for a walkway?
60 lumens at 5.5 watts, 3000K, 90 CRI. That is deliberately low. A louvered brick light is a marker, not an area light: the louvers wash the ground directly in front of the fixture and keep the source out of your eyes. For lighting a whole path you space several of them along the run rather than expecting one to cover it.
6) When the LED in the WAC Endurance brick light fails, does the whole fixture get replaced?
No. The high powered LED module is replaceable, so a maintenance crew swaps the module instead of pulling the housing out of the masonry. Rated life is 80,000 hours with 70 percent or more of initial output remaining at end of life. For a property manager, that is the number that matters: the fixture stays in the wall.
7) What finishes does the WAC WL-5205 brick light come in for matching other fixtures on a building?
Four architectural finishes: black (WL-5205-30-ABK), bronze (WL-5205-30-ABZ), graphite (WL-5205-30-AGH), and white (WL-5205-30-AWT). All four are the same 3000K, 90 CRI Endurance louvered fixture, so you can mix finishes across elevations without changing the light.
8) Is the WL-5205 brick light available in other color temperatures besides 3000K?
3000K only. Every version of the Endurance louvered brick light is the 30 code, warm white at 90 CRI. If a job spec calls for 4000K, this is not the fixture.
9) Does the WAC Endurance brick light meet ADA requirements for a corridor or egress path?
It is listed as ADA compliant. Projection is the thing that governs on a protruding object, and this fixture recesses into the wall or riser rather than hanging off it, which is why it clears. Bulb is included and integrated, so there is nothing added to the profile at install.
10) Can this brick light be used on a Title 24 or Energy Star job in California?
The Endurance louvered brick light is not Title 24 compliant, not Energy Star, and not CEC listed. On a California residential outdoor job where the fixture has to be on the CEC appliance database, specify something else. For jobs outside those programs it is a straight 120V, 5.5W, 90 CRI LED fixture.
11) What size opening do I need to leave in the masonry for a WAC 9.5 inch brick light?
Size the pocket to the fixture: 9.5 inches high, 4.5 inches wide, 4 inches deep, with a backplate measuring 9.5 by 4 inches. Frame or lay the rough opening during masonry work so the backplate lands flat on the face and the housing sits back in the wall.
12) Can the WL-5205 brick light be mounted indoors, like in a stair riser or a lobby wall?
Yes, it is rated for both indoor and outdoor use, and the mounting method is wall or any orientation. The LED emits no UV or IR radiation, which is why it is safe against interior finishes and near seating. Same fixture either side of the door.
