Modern Forms FR-W2605-54L-MB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Modern Forms Chill 54 inch fan be installed on a covered patio or an open porch?
The Chill FR-W2605 carries a Wet location rating, so it can go on covered patios, porches, pergolas, and other exposed outdoor ceilings as well as indoors. It is UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL listed for wet location use. Blades are ABS rather than wood-veneer, which is what makes the wet rating possible.
2) Will the Chill 54 inch ceiling fan mount on a sloped ceiling?
Yes, the Chill mounts on slopes up to 30 degrees. It ships with a 6 inch downrod, which sets the blade height on a flat ceiling; steeper pitches or higher ceilings call for a longer downrod, ordered separately.
3) Do I need a wall control, or does the Chill fan come with a remote?
A Bluetooth handheld remote with a wall cradle is included. A hardwired wall control is not included. The fan also runs from the Modern Forms app and pairs with Google Assistant, Alexa, SmartThings, Control4, and Josh AI, so many installs skip the wall control entirely.
4) Can the Chill fan be run without the light?
Yes. The LED luminaire is replaceable and a light cap is included, so the fan can be installed with the light module removed and the cap in its place for a clean fan-only look. With the light in, it puts out 3846 lumens at 90 CRI with a flood beam and is dimmable.
5) What size room does a 54 inch Modern Forms Chill fan cover?
Blade span is 54 inches with three 23.75 inch ABS blades at a 16 degree pitch, moving 6277 CFM on high. That output suits great rooms, open-concept living areas, larger bedrooms, and covered outdoor living spaces rather than a small bathroom or hallway.
6) Can I change the light color temperature on the Modern Forms Chill fan?
The LED module is field-selectable between 2700K, 3000K, 4000K and 5000K, so one fan can match warm residential lighting or cooler commercial and outdoor schemes without stocking different SKUs. Useful if you are standardizing across a property with mixed color temperatures.
7) What voltage does the Chill smart DC ceiling fan run on?
It accepts 120 to 240 volts and draws 63 watts total. The universal input means the same fan works on standard 120V residential circuits and on 240V supply in international or specialty installations.
8) Does the Chill fan reverse for winter use?
The DC motor is reversible and has 6 speeds, so you can run it in reverse at low speed to push warm air back down in heating season. DC motors also draw considerably less power than a comparable AC fan.
9) Is the Chill 54 inch fan Energy Star or ADA compliant?
No on both counts. The Chill FR-W2605 is not Energy Star qualified and is not ADA compliant. If a spec on your drawing calls for Energy Star, this fan will not satisfy it, though the DC motor still draws only 63 watts total including the LED.
10) If the LED burns out on the Chill fan, do I replace the whole fan?
No. The luminaire is a replaceable LED module rather than a sealed integral assembly, so it can be swapped in place. The module is rated for 50,000 average hours.
11) What finishes does the Modern Forms Chill FR-W2605 come in?
Three: Matte Black, Matte White, and Matte Black with Distressed Koa blades. The Koa option gives a wood look while keeping the ABS blade construction that the wet rating depends on.
