1) Can the WAC FM-11RN flush mount go on a wall, or is it ceiling only?
Both. The FM-11RN is rated for ceiling or wall mounting in any orientation, so you can run it on a sloped ceiling, a soffit, or vertically on a wall without a separate kit. At 11 inches in diameter and only 0.6 inches deep, it sits nearly flat against the surface, which is why it works as a wall sconce in a corridor or stairwell as well as a ceiling fixture.
2) Is the FM-11RN LED flush mount approved for a covered porch or a bathroom with a shower?
It carries a damp location rating and is listed for indoor or covered outdoor use, so a covered porch, breezeway, or bathroom ceiling outside the shower spray zone is within its rating. It is not wet-rated, so do not put it on an exposed exterior soffit that takes direct rain or on an open deck.
3) Will the WAC FM-11RN work on my existing dimmer, or do I need a new one?
It dims on ELV or TRIAC controls, from 100 percent down to 5 percent. A standard forward-phase (TRIAC) incandescent-style dimmer already in the wall will run it, and reverse-phase ELV dimmers work too. It is a 120 VAC, 50/60Hz fixture, so no low-voltage transformer or 0-10V control wiring is involved.
4) Where does the driver go on the FM-11RN, and will it fit in a standard junction box?
The driver mounts inside the junction box rather than in the fixture housing, which is how the fixture stays at 0.6 inches deep. The driver measures 2.25 inches in diameter by 1 inch deep, and the fixture comes with a 6 inch wire lead to make up to the box. Plan your box selection around that driver volume, since it has to live in the box with your supply conductors.
5) Does the WAC FM-11RN meet California Title 24 and ADA requirements for a multifamily project?
Yes on both. It is Title 24 compliant and CEC listed for California work, ADA compliant, and Energy Star qualified. Certification is ETL and cETL, so it is good for Canadian jobs as well. The ADA compliance comes down to projection: at 0.6 inches off the surface it is well under the 4 inch limit for wall-mounted objects in a circulation path.
6) Is the FM-11RN bright enough to be the only fixture in a small bedroom or hallway?
The FM-11RN puts out 2550 delivered lumens at 90 CRI with a multi-LED array behind a translucent acrylic diffuser, so the light spreads evenly instead of hot-spotting. That output covers a hallway, a small bedroom, a laundry, or a walk-in closet as a single source. For a larger great room you would space several of them rather than rely on one.
7) What is the FM-11RN made of, and will it hold up in a rental turnover?
Housing is aluminum with a translucent acrylic diffuser. Aluminum handles the heat off the LED array without a heavy cast body, and acrylic will not shatter the way a glass shade does if a ladder catches it during a turn. It is hardwired, so there is no plug or cord to deal with.
