WAC Lighting WAC-JLE – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the WAC Lighting JLE live end connector actually do on a track run?
The JLE is the power feed for a WAC J Track run. It is the hardwired end connector that brings 120V line voltage into the end of the track, so every J Track circuit needs one feed point (live end) unless power is being introduced some other way. It runs on 120 volts and is a hardwired component, not a plug-in cord set.
2) Will the JLE connector fit Halo or Juno track, or only WAC J Track?
It is built for the WAC J Track system only. J Track is a three-wire, single-circuit profile and the JLE seats into that specific extrusion, so it will not land in an H-type or L-type channel from another system. If the existing track in the building is not WAC J, match the connector to that track's own profile instead.
3) Can I use this track connector in a covered exterior soffit or a bathroom with a shower?
No. The JLE carries a Dry location rating and is listed for interior use, so damp or wet spots are out: no exterior soffits, no open porches, and no shower or tub zones. For those locations you need a wet- or damp-rated system.
4) How much space does the JLE live end take up at the end of the track?
Plan on a footprint of 4.75 x 1.25 x 0.75 inches, with the 0.75 inch dimension being the height off the mounting surface. The cover plate matches at 4.75 inches wide, 1.25 inches deep and 0.75 inches high. That low profile matters when the track dead-ends into a wall or a soffit return and you need clearance for the feed.
5) Does buying the JLE get me a working track lighting setup?
No, it is a single component, not a complete system. The JLE only feeds power in. You still need the J Track sections, your heads or fixtures, and any couplers, end caps or canopy hardware for the run. Budget it as one line item on the takeoff, not the package.
6) What finishes does the WAC JLE live end come in, and can I match it to my existing track?
Three finishes: Black (JLE-BK), Brushed Nickel (JLE-BN), and White (JLE-WT). Order the connector in the same finish as the track sections and heads so the feed does not read as a mismatched block at the end of the run. White and black cover most ceiling work; brushed nickel is the one to pick when the heads are nickel.
7) Is the WAC JLE track connector UL listed for commercial jobs?
It carries UL and cUL safety listings, which covers both US and Canadian inspection. Note what it does not carry: no Energy Star and no Title 24 compliance claim, and it is not an ADA-compliant item, so if your spec hits California Title 24 you are proving that at the fixture and control level, not here.
8) Can the JLE be flipped or installed either way around in the track?
No. It is listed as non-reversible mounting, so it seats one way in the J Track channel. Check orientation before you fasten the backplate, since reversing it is not an option for routing the feed from the other side.
9) What is the body of the WAC JLE connector made of?
Aluminum, finished in black, brushed nickel or white. Light enough that it adds nothing meaningful to the ceiling load and it will not rust in a conditioned interior, which is the only place it is rated to go anyway.
