1) Is the WAC 2501 indicator light rated for wet locations and direct rain?
Wet location rated, with UL and cUL listing and an IP66 ingress rating. IP66 covers dust-tight sealing and high pressure water jets, so rain, sprinkler spray and hose washdown are all within rating. The housing is stainless steel with a clear glass lens.
2) How bright is the WAC 2501 path indicator light, and will it light a walkway?
60 lumens at 2.8W. That is marker-level output: it shows the edge of a step, deck or path and reads as a point of light, but it will not wash a walkway surface. For actual path illumination, pair it with taller path heads and use these to mark edges, corners and stair returns.
3) Can I dim the WAC 2501 LED indicator light?
Yes, but only on the magnetic low voltage side. The 2501 is listed as MLV dimmable, so it dims through a magnetic low voltage transformer paired with an MLV-compatible dimmer on the line side. It is not an ELV or TRIAC-leading-edge fixture, and wiring it to the wrong dimmer type is where flicker comes from.
4) Can this WAC indicator light be walked on or mounted in a deck or stair tread?
It is a surface mounted top-facing indicator light, not a drive-over or walk-over fixture, and nothing in the specs rates it for load. It stands only 0.79 inch tall with a 2.88 inch diameter, so it sits nearly flush on a cap rail, post top, deck surface or stair riser without being a trip hazard, but treat it as a marker light rather than a tread light.
5) Which color temperature should I order for the WAC 2501, 2700K or 3000K?
Both are offered. 2700K reads warmer and blends with incandescent-era landscape and porch lighting; 3000K is slightly crisper and is the more common spec on newer exterior jobs. Order 2501-27SS or 2501-27BS for 2700K, 2501-30SS or 2501-30BS for 3000K. If you are adding to an existing run, match whatever is already installed.
6) Can the LED be replaced in the WAC 2501, or is the whole fixture throwaway?
The light source is an integrated LED, so there is no socket and no lamp to change. It is rated at an average 70,000 hours, and when it fails the fixture is replaced. For MRO stocking, that means you carry spare fixtures, not spare lamps.
7) Does the WAC 2501 meet Title 24 for a California exterior lighting job?
