WAC Lighting HTK-704-BK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the WAC HTK-704 track head fit my existing H-type track?
The HTK-704 is an H track fixture, so it mounts to H-style (three-circuit H) track rail. It runs on 120V line voltage, not low voltage, so the track it clips into has to be a line voltage H system. It will not drop into J or L style track.
2) What bulb does the WAC HTK-704 track head take, and is one included?
It takes a single PAR30 lamp, and no bulb ships with the head. You can run either incandescent or LED PAR30, up to 100 watts maximum per head. On an LED PAR30 that 100W ceiling is never a concern; on incandescent it is the number to watch when you total up a run for circuit loading.
3) Can I use the WAC HTK-704 track head outdoors or in a covered patio?
No. The HTK-704 is rated for dry locations and interior use only. Covered exterior entries, patios and soffits are damp locations at minimum, so this head is the wrong choice there. Keep it to conditioned interior spaces such as retail, gallery, office and residential rooms.
4) Is the HTK-704 a complete track lighting system or just the head?
Just the head. It is sold as an individual fixture, not a kit, so the track sections, feed or canopy connector, connectors and end caps are separate line items. Budget the H track and power feed on the same order if you are building a run from scratch.
5) What finishes does the WAC HTK-704 come in?
Two: black (HTK-704-BK) and white (HTK-704-WT). Match the head to the track rail finish rather than the ceiling, since the rail is what the eye follows. White disappears on a white drywall ceiling; black is the usual pick for exposed structure, dark ceilings and gallery work.
6) How much room does the HTK-704 head need below the ceiling?
Allow about 9.7 inches of drop at full extension, with a 4.45 inch diameter head and a 7.21 inch overall length. That matters in low-ceiling retail or a corridor where a head aimed straight down can end up in someone's sightline or inside a door swing.
7) Is the WAC HTK-704 UL listed for commercial jobs?
It carries UL and cUL listings, which covers work on both sides of the border. It is also CEC listed. It is not Energy Star qualified and not Title 24 compliant, so on a California project with a Title 24 lighting requirement this head will not satisfy that line of the spec on its own.
8) Can the HTK-704 head be mounted in either direction on the track?
Yes, it is reversible mounting, so the head can be indexed to face either way along the rail. That is useful on a single run washing two opposite walls, or when the feed end forces the track orientation and you still need the heads aiming back the other way.
